Re: Is $10,000.00 worth it?
About 20 years ago a fire department traded in a similar truck at a local ford dealer with very low miles and in excellent shape,I think it the dealers asking price was around 2500 dollars which at the time seemed like a bunch of money for a old truck but now wishing I would have came up with the money and bought it.

Drove it home today. Left PA at 6am this morning and 11 hours later pulled in my driveway. Ran great and had no problems with the 700 mile trip. It sure likes gas....about 11 to 12 mpg.

11-12 is more than I would expect. Is it as good as the pictures?

Cool. Glad you got her home! About how fast were you averaging on the highway? 11-12 really isn't bad, especially if you were doing 70ish on the interstate.

Ya thats not bad. I usually get 11 - 12, but last this last tank dropped to 9. Time to check things out.
May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip. Unless a slip knot.

Yes it is as good as the pictures. The no power steering was hard to get used to but after the first 100 miles I had it down. I do need to take a leaf out of the back that was added for the water tank. I would put a can of seafoam in the tank with each fill up to clean out any gunk that built up over the years. It does have a rough spot when it idles but not bad.FLATBEDFORD wrote:11-12 is more than I would expect. Is it as good as the pictures?

About 65 to 70 at 3100 to 3300 rpm. It sure could use another gear or overdrivefomocoguy wrote:Cool. Glad you got her home! About how fast were you averaging on the highway? 11-12 really isn't bad, especially if you were doing 70ish on the interstate.

You only need the power steering when you are not rolling. Plan ahead and you can do most of your steering when the truck is rolling.

Removed the fire department bumper and installed the new bumper and tail gate. Will be removing the letters tomorrow.

I found the problem with the rough idle. I love working on older trucks, didn't need a computer for this

That really is a NICE Bump! I 23rd that, don't take the lettering off! Your not even in the same state, so there should be no issues. Call me a dummy, but not sure what you where holding up there. Great truck Walnut!

There is a little color diference in the tailgate but only a few people would spot it (like me and all the guys on this forum

I want to thank everyone for giving me the feedback and information. I was not sure to buy it but with the help from this site i'm so happy I did.

I have fell in love with this truck and when I take it for a ride I get thumbs up and so many people walk up to it and can't believe that it has such low mileage and in that good of shape.
