New Computer

Post by BobbyFord »

Jeez, what a tedious couple of days. Got a new computer, spent the past two days transferring files. Finally got all of my pictures transferred, I'm now transferring almost 20GB's of music. I tried to get my email set up using Outlook 2010 but didn't realize that they already had a trial version installed, so whenI downloaded my Outlook on top of the trial version it corrupted the install, took me two hours to sort that out :x It'll take a while to get used to Windows 7, gotta get an updated scanner and printer now, too.

Once you get used to it windows 7 is cool. A heck of a lot better than Vista. Congrats on the new system.

I went from Windows XP to Windows 7, the colors are amazing compared to the old 32 bit set up

i know what a pain it is to get a computer working right. mine is real close to being good as it was before. it takes forever for any windows to open in firefox or internet explorer.

I got a new one because the power supply already died in my old P4 and I feared the dreaded crash wasn't far behind. I have pictures that are irreplaceable. My flatbed scanner is not Win7 compatible so hopefully there's a software fix available for that. Fortunately today I got everything transferred.
I have the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers and they're amazing. Kind of pricey but if your into music they're unbeatable.

You can use 32 or 64 bit on Win 7, but you probably already know that.

I still cant get on this site from my new Dell, treats me as a guest even though I put in all my stuff. Called Dell help got New Delhi and couldnt under stand a word the guy was saying. Am on this one at work and I cant get any pics here. they are blocked because of it being a DOD comp. I think maybe my anti virus at home, which is Norton is blocking me.

Yeah i did this about three weeks before you and am still transfering stuff. biggest problem is this one seperates stuff imported from stuff downloaded/installed directly to it.

so i have doubles of all my pics and music and so itunes plays everything twice. lol

I spent two solid days transferring stuff
I was ready to go postal on myself
I dragged my entire old iTunes folder and tossed it on top of my new iTunes folder using a transfer cable. It seems to have worked correctly.

Yeah, I knew I couldn't do the memory stick thing with all of my music. 6' transfer cable was $40 at Radio Shack  but it was well worth the time it saved.
