1968 truck build in KC plant

I've a question about the numbers produced in a single day. I own two 68's, ones aF250 Camper Special and the other a F100.
Both built in KC and Both Built in the same month. Nov. 1967. The Serial numbers are 826 apart. I thought that they might have been built in the same week and maybe just days apart.
What was the number produced during a single day? If they had 3 shifts, worked weekends, holidays etc.?
WE ARE TALKING 1968!! Not current numbers per day.
As near as I can figure w/o Holidays and weekends, the days would have been 21.

I'm sure someone can answer definitively, but if you assume equal production for all plants (which I know didn't happen), and calculate for 350 days of production (which may or may not be close), you arrive at a rate of ~113 trucks per day per plant. This would put your trucks at 7.3 days apart. This could vary wildly based upon method of assignment of serial numbers and actual production of a given plant.


435,973 total F series 1968 model, divided by 11 plants = 39634 trucks per plant, average. 39634 divided by 350 days production = 113 trucks per day.

There was a huge Union Strike in '68 so those numbers are off. Probably the best source would be to PM Hawkrod, he deals in obscure high po Ford parts and may have better insight. I also think the serquential numbers were across bodystyles but I'm not sure. I guess it depends on what was being built at that plant.

Does anyone know the time of the 1968 ford strike? Month, dates etc.? Thanks for the info on Hawkrod. ray
Going by some of the date stamps on the truck, such as the front fenders. They have 11 28 and 11 24 I don't know if that's dates or not. If so it doesn't match to the dates the truck was supposed to be built. Heads on the 390 are 7L6 and 7L7. If a strike was around that time it could have been a later Nov. 67 build.

Quick google search shows several sites with info. Looks like it was early production for the '68 model year, note that the strike ended on 11 Nov 1967 so it's hard to tell when your trucks were built but they should have low VIN numbers.

I know Ford ran out of 302 cranks and had to sell a bunch of '68's with 289's in them by using existing stocks.

i didnt know the strike was in that time period. so it would cover the early 68 model year. my 68 was built in august of 68. almost a 69 model instead.
