Thats a cool vid, thanks for sharing. It was amazing some were lucky enough to walk away from those wrecks, but I don't think all were that fortunate.

Wow, that was some amazing video. Those guys were really taking their life in their hands to race in those days. Unfortunately many lost them.

My Dad had a friend who was badly burned back in the early 60's due to an accident in a modified stock car. The collision sheared the filler neck on the gas tank and his back got soaked when the car flipped. In those days most of the local roundy rounders drove in jeans and a tee shirt and Dad's buddy was no exception. Although he was many months in recovering he came back to drive again. Still did the jeans and tee shirt thing but with a firesuit over top of them.

Great but disturbing video. Safety has come a long way over the years. When I go drag racing that is the one thing I do not cut corners on and that is safety.

What a disturbing video. My dad raced at the local dirt track in the late 60's through the mid 70"s and I put a few laps down there myself. When dad was racing, nobody knew what a fuel cell was, but 5 point harness' and fire suits were available and thank goodness mandatory at our local track. I think I probably had more money in safety equipment for my stock car than dad had in his car total. When my son moved up from hobby stock to mini sprint cars, it scared me to death as he didn't have the money to buy a SFI5 rated firesuit. I told him not to put the car on the track until he had a better fire suit. Of course he didn't listen to me. Thank God for all the improvements in safety over the years. You can't eliminate the danger from the sport, but good equipment and enforcing safety rules at the track have likely saved thousands of lives over the last 4 or 5 decades.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
