found this on my local radio station news page. its not a bump but still a Ford
RIDGEWAY TOWNSHIP, Mich., June 12 (UPI) -- A Michigan man has seen the USA, not in a Chevrolet but in a Ford truck on which he's put more than a million miles doing what he said he didn't intend.
Gary Mueller of Ridgeway Township socked away money to travel when he worked for Ford Motor Co., but he said about 90 percent of it vanished when the stock market "dot-com" bubble burst in April 2000.
"That kind of quenched my travel plans for my savings," he said.
He still wanted to travel, and taking a cue from a friend, Mueller bought a truck and went to work for Quality Drive-Away Inc., of Goshen, Ind., in September 2001 hauling recreational vehicles to all parts of the country, The Daily Telegram of Adrian, Mich., reported Sunday.
"I found out right away when you're driving, it's not as much of a sightseeing experience as watching out for the other guy," Mueller said.
He had an accident three months after starting the job but then bought a 2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty diesel truck with manual transmission and dual rear wheels and proceeded to put more than a million miles worth of traveling the country on it, hauling trailers that can weigh more than 16,000 pounds.
"This truck really feels kind of like an extension of me," Mueller said.
His truck ticked 1 million miles Feb. 17, the newspaper said.
Mueller said the company he works for keeps sending him work, and if he keeps on maintaining his truck as diligently as he does, he doesn't see any reason why he can't keep on truckin'.
"I don't think there's a limit," he said.

Re: Million Mile Ford Truck
With the 7.3 they run for ever. I have two F350 with over 325K on them and another 3 with over 200K and they work everyday, tow trailers, plow snow and so on. Just don't try that with the 6.0 because it will be in the shop all the time. I have 7 of those and regret buying everyone of them. Could be the worst motor ever made, which is amazing 7.3 was indestructable, only problem with them is a periodic cam sensor. Go figure International and Ford are in court over that debacle called a 6.0/6.4

After he retired from his regular job, my grandfather on my dad's side got a job delivering mobile homes. He would hitch his little Opal car behind them and away he'd go. He drove all over the country doing that! He'd deliver the mobile home, then drive the Opal back to Iowa.

Re: Million Mile Ford Truck
I had a friend who did that with boat and Car Hualer and lawn mower/yard equipment trailers from oklahoma to california and back. problem was he spent most of the pay at the truck stops. he did this with a 98 or 99 dodge ram 3500 Cumins diesel dual rears for a bit in 03-05.

Re: Million Mile Ford Truck
My 71 F100 is right at 400k on it. Of course there is not very many original parts left on it.
I pulled the original 302 at 240k and it still didn't burn out but had pretty low power. Had the original clutch at that time also. Most of the body is original as is the chassis and the rear end. I am only on my second set of rear brake shoes.
The diesels sure will go a lot further than a gas engine that is for sure. My dad drove for 35 years. Told me a lot of the road tractors would go a million miles before getting an in frame rebuild on them.
Pretty dang good miles for a smaller higher rpm diesel engine though. Bet he kept REAL good care of it.
