OT: 03 CVPI new ride

Post by flyboy71 »

Picked up an 03 Crown Vic P71 this evening. Rides smooth. I figured I bought a front end for my truck so why not get a whole car? :D The most fun is watching people checking to see if your a cop. Its frustrating on 2 lane roads because with anyone out front you never go the speed limit.

That is a good looking cruiser. Book em Dano.

'Evening Jeff,

That basically looks like a brand new car! I've also thought of buying one of these, since they seem like good deals. That's a lot of power, comfort, and reliability for the dollar, I think. I'll bet it really sails on the freeway!

Thanks guys! It has 123k miles. Thats not too bad for a cruiser. Apparently PA decomissions these above 100k and Im told VA limit is 200k so it should have lots of life in it. I pulled the dipstick to check the oil and at first I thought it was empty until I realized the oil in it is like new. One nice thing is they maintain these cars by the book. Its rough around the edges, rust in the usual spots and some areas of rust under the hood but its not terrible. I bought it from the guy I got the front suspension from and he buys these all the time and resells them.

I finally snagged a honeycomb grille and changed it out. I like it better and people slow down faster when they see me. I took my son to the park and parked it out along the main road where it goes down to 25mph and while he was playing I was watching folks slam the brakes. The things a blast when Im not even in it. Can I get in trouble if my car's impersonating a cop car? :hmm:

Good evening Jeff,

That's a nice move on the honeycomb grille--I like its looks much better. It looks more utilitarian and heavy-duty that way I think.

My guess is that you won't run in to any trouble due to looking too much like a police car, as long as you limit the number of arrests you make each week! :)
