OMG! What a terrible tragedy. May God take him into his arms and welcome him home. God send comfort to this family and bless them at this sad time. He will be sorely missed on this site.

I again send up my prayers and best wishes for the family in hopes God will ease their suffering.
I hope his family never see that picture. It took my breath away. I now he didn't suffer by looking at that picture and hope that helps those left behind some. That was a terrible wreck. Don't think I've ever seen a bump tore up that bad. Almost un-recognizable. People say our trucks are not as safe as the newer ones and they are right but no new truck would have made a difference in that wreck. So sorry

Just terrible news. So very sorry for his family. May God rest his soul and ease his family's pain. I hope he's looking out the windshield of a factory fresh bump, full tank of gas, the rumble of a strong FE and cruising heavens back roads

Gene David Wheelbarger, 29, a loving and caring husband, daddy, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Gene was born July 26, 1981, in Loma Linda, Calif. He graduated James Bowie High School in 1998 at the age of 16. He earned his computer science engineering degree from UTA in 2003. He also worked at XTO Energy in downtown Fort Worth on and off for several years. He enjoyed hobbies and had many of them. He loved cars, he was so proud of his 1968 Ford truck. He enjoyed going to the Bluebonnet Brewoff every year. During those events this shy, quiet man became quite the social butterfly. He was a homebody; however, he loved the outdoors. He became an active Geocacher and had recently rediscovered fishing. He liked camping, traveling and yearned for country living. Gene was a wonderful husband to his wife and best friend, Jennifer. He was a very proud daddy to Samantha and Henry and was thrilled to find out he was expecting another one early next year. Gene had many friends. He would do anything to provide for his family or to help out a friend. He was a genuine, simple and kind man. He loved his family and admired his father.
