Whats the cut off year for 8 Lug wheels

Whats the last year truck that i could find a set of 8 lug wheels off of? I keep hearing about how new rims wont fit on old trucks an old rims will fit on new trucks if the calipers alow it. whats the deal guys

1997 and back 8 lug Ford wheels fit our trucks.

Alright thats man, do you know what the difference is in the newer wheels? I assume its the hub size correct?

after 97 they were metric bolt patterns. they wont fit.

One more thing, if you're buying used wheels, Chebby's have a smaller hub diameter than Ford and Dodge. In other words Chebby O.E.M. wheels WON'T fit due to smaller diameter hub cut out in their wheels...just so you're aware.

Ford E-250 & E-350 vans kept the Non-metric wheels for several more years after the trucks changed. Can't remember up to what year at the moment but I think it was at least 2003 or later.

Also, Dodge has not gone to metric pattern and they bolt right on. The newer stuff is 17 inch to clear the large brake calipers that Dodge uses though.

One thing I do like about the 17 in wheels is that you can get a fairly skinny tire that is 35" tall in that rim size.
