So, I have my truck's build sheet, right? I know what some of the codes mean but cannot find out the breakdown for the rest of them. There are codes for "engine", "transmission", "bumpers", "springs", "mirrors", and lots more.
Is there a list somewhere that shows what these letter/number codes stand for? If there isn't, could we pool our knowledge base together and start working on a new database?

Have you looked here http://www.fordification.com/tech/VIN70.htm assuming you have a 1970 based on your signature?
1970, 2WD, F-250, C/S, Dual Tanks, 390 FE (of course), C6, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Dana 60 3.73, Sky View Blue, Ranger XLT
1970, 2WD, F-250, C/S, A/C, Dual Tanks, 390 FE (again, of course), C6, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Dana 60 3.73, Wimbledon White & Sky View Blue, Ranger (almost twin brothers!)

That has helped a great deal, yes. I found a few more charts in the Ford shop manual itself, too. There are still a lot of codes that are not listed, though. It's not a huge deal, I just think it would be cool to know what everything on the build sheet meant.forrestbump wrote:Have you looked here http://www.fordification.com/tech/VIN70.htm assuming you have a 1970 based on your signature?
