New Mustang

Post by F100builder »

Here's what I've been playin' with lately...it's a '93 triple black that is BONE stock in appearance only!
It's a real creampuff mostly but what lies under the hood is totally sick! The gauge pod on the A-pillar, the M/T drag radials, and the sweet exhaust note are the only things that say, "go ahead...try me!"
It's a 5.0 with GT40 aluminum heads, GT40 upper and lower intake, Powerdyne supercharger, MSD ignition, headers, high-flow cats, flowmaster cat-back system, Spec race clutch, welded subframe connectors, aftermarket A-arms, strut brace, aluminum driveline, etc, etc...it was tuned and dyno'd to a tune of 370 rwhp and 377 ft/lbs!!!
"No officer...I do not know how fast I was going!!!"

Not quite as quick and fast as the Roush I drove recently but it's very close!

Talk about a lasting bodystyle. Those 93's didn't change much from the 79's body style. the cougar and T-bird went through more changes between 79-89.

those do look nice when shiny though.

Very clean! What a beauty! They are great looking cars.
Any plans for future modifications? Suspension and handling? :D
The shock tower brace is an awesome addition for structural support.
I'd highly recommend a few inexpensive upgrades (if you don't already have them):
* "The Club" steering wheel and brake pedal locking devices.
* subframe connectors with seat braces.
* reinforce the body mounts for the rear lower control arms
* SFI rated harmonic damper
* Green stuff brake pads, and slotted rotors.

And then for some real fun, add a set of adjustable struts and shocks (I really like the Tokico Illumina setup), some H&R supersport springs (great spring rate for a convertible), and M-M Caster Camber plates. Those additions will turn your car into a real corner carving speed demon.

Thanks all!
It already has welded subframe connectors and an SFI damper but not sure about the reinforced mounting locations. Here's a list that came with the car:

Motorsport 9 lb. supercharger by Powerdyne
GT40 turbo-swirl aluminum heads
GT40 upper/lower intake
1/2" phenolic spacer under the lower intake
70mm throttle body
73mm mass air
All MSD ignition w/ billet distributor, 6 BTM box, and Blaster coil
Motorsport aluminum radiator
Electric fan
Motorsport oil cooler
HPM strut tower brace
Summit battery relocation
Mac headers
1:7 rockers
Motorsport aluminum driveline
3.55 gears
2.5" stainless H-pipe w/ high-flow cats
2.5" Flowmaster cat back
Megabyte Jr. lower control arms
Motorsport HD upper control arms
Motorsport 190 liter/hour fuel pump
42 lb. injectors
KYB shocks/struts
Steeda 19 camshaft
UPR intake pipe
New stage 2 Spec clutch
Steeda Triax shifter w/ graphite knob
Welded subframe connectors
M/T drag radials 255/50-16

and yes...it is one helluva kick to drive!!!! :woohoo:

The torq box reinforment would be a good idea with that power. Basically where your control arms mount, it's thin metal that will pretty much tear when the rear is puttin those horses to the ground! They sell kits that can be welded around the box to strengthen it but if you have time on your hands you can fabricate your own like I did. Also sent you a p.m.

wow. that looks nice and sounds like it runs even nicer. the trick is finding one in vgc that hasn't already been modded.

Thanks all...this car is something else and a lot of fun for sure. I'm actually considering putting it up for sale...maybe. :( It gets about 24 mpg but my little Mazda 3 gets 32-38 depending on how I drive it and it's quite a bit more capable in all seasons whereas the Mustang is pretty much a toy for fair weather. Still thinkin' on this one...
