Fords don't wave at Fords

Post by cdeal28078 »

I have passed several nice Mustangs this weekend and none would wave at me in greetings. Are they just stuck up or do they not acknowledge our trucks as a Ford? Heck I meet other 67-72's pretty often and the majority of them won't even wave back at me. I did see a nice Dent in Huntersville on Friday I think. It was a two tone Bronze colored and a real pretty truck. At least he waved back at me. lol Am I just being too sensitive? lol

Seems like it's a general thing anymore. Lots of guys running nice stuff around here are the same way. Too bad, just makes them look bad. Gave a thumbs up to a passing Hemi Roadrunner the other day and he lit right up with a grin and a wave back. Kind of gives you a feeling of connection that seems so rare these days.

I guess it is just a sign of the times mk. It is very rare another Ford Bump waves at me but I keep on trying. I wave at any old Ford, Dodge or AMC. I usually don't bother waving at older Chuvy's. lol

I noticed the same thing out on the water the other day! Might boat isn't brand new, but she isn't anything to look down at either, and I'll be damned if only the old boys in the jon boats waved at me and couple other older boats. I think it is just the sign of times changing, Kinda makes me sad to be honest!

Seems like around here everyone waves or waves back. Whether it's on the road or the lake. Especially on the lake. East Texas has always been that way as far as I can remember.

Clint,
Is it a big city or small town area where you're snubbed?

The reason I ask is in my small town most folks are friendly and wave back, but whenever I'm in L.A., which is about a hundred miles away and a million miles away culturally, folks tend to be too busy with their own lives, too pissed off due to stress and traffic and just plain suspicious of friendly folks.

...give me my small friendly town any day of the week where folks are real and take the time to be friendly to one another and wave out of politeness and general concern for one another...I even get waves from the Chebby guys.

I didn't want to give a wrong impression of Alberta here; generally folks still wave and are friendly. It just seems maybe that a lot of the high dollar rod guys feel that they're above that kind of acknowledgement somehow...

Times are changing. 15 -20 years ago your hand would almost fall off from waving at everyone you meet on the road. Now it is odd if anyone waves. I still do especially when I see someone in a nice classic.

It is a small town that wants to be a large city and it is close to the lake with them stuck up rich folk and the people moving out from the city. I can usually tell if they wave they probably grew up around here. We have a very large number of folks that have moved down here from the big city up north. It is almost rare to find somebody that actually grew up around here these days.
Some of the people in bumps that don't wave are usually run down old trucks and I figure they don't care nothing about it and are just using it to haul trash to the dump in it. Some of the nicer ones I see I think they are the large city folk and are just stuck up and think their stuff is better than anybody else's. Some people just are not paying attention either. I see so many people with a cell phone in one hand, a cigarette in the other and still driving down the road talking to their passenger it is scary.
There used to be a nice 71 shortbed the same color as mine that lived in Huntersville. It was a nice truck. I met him on the road often and he would never acknowledge me. I figured he was one of those My stuff is better than your stuff people"
It is sad though

Welcome to the second invasion of the Yankiees, finding a Native tarheel is like finding a gold nugget in a creek. I have confused a lot of them by just randomly waving at folks, the ones that don't have the phone stuck to their head usually wave back.

Same here. People will dang near go out of their way to wave at you. I've had people almost hit me they were looking & oogling at my truck, hanging out the window yelling " NICE TRUCK MAN"!! .

On Lake Eufaula, you better have a good waving arm because your dang sure gonna use it.

I had a guy in a '57 Bel Air wave at me when I was driving my '66 F100. From one classic to another I guess. *shrug*

I usually only wave at other Ford trucks. I'm just not a Mustang person.
