Thanks for the kind words! I still need to get a good video once I get everything with the distributor and vacuum advance sorted out. Yeah I'm glad I have a choke now. Helps with starts but it sure isn't pretty. But a new carb is in order eventually so hopefully I can get a real manual setup with that.

Fiddling with the timing curve today and I finally got it running right with vacuum advance but it won't work with manifold vacuum, only ported??

Also did a compression check last night-

Scary incident happened though- I had the engine idling and I got out of the cab to check the timing or something and when I hit the throttle and it revs down I hear a CLUNK. As soon as I heard that I knew exactly what happened.. It dropped into reverse! I sprang into action as the truck was picking up speed. (driveway has a very slight angle..) Opened the door, hopped down the driveway trying to get one foot on the brake pedal/in the cab. As soon as I got my foot slammed on the pedal I hear another clank.. My passenger door was open (for in cab ventilation) and it hit out basketball goal. Luckily no damage. Afterwards I realized I could have easily just turned the key off but then my door might have been damaged. So I guess my panicing actually helped me. And usually my dad's truck is parked a few feet behind mine. But not today, he had it parked in the grass since he was using the dirt in the bed. Kinda funny though since a few days ago I had posted that I was afraid that this exact thing might happen and was wondering how to fix it.

Been there done that "Reverse Clunk" .... Mine only has about 1 foot till the back of garage so not time to build speed. I always wonder how many people got run over because of this. Ford was nice enough to send all owners a sticker that this will happen!!!

But i did get the gear oil pumped out and replaced in my rear end. Boy that stuff stinks

Got to take a short ride with my dad to the gas station in the truck last night. When we pulled out he said "get on it". So I did of course Somewhat slow around the turn and getting up to about 20-25 I'd guess (speedometer's out of commission) But boy once it gets into 3rd it sounds like somebody really ticked it off (in a good way) and feels pretty nice too . Having the vacuum advance connected really helps but I can tell it needs some work with the carb and distributor.

Also did some spray painting. I painted the horn, coil, and coil bracket, and the hardware for each. Also moved the coil from being mounted to the intake to being mounted upright the the right head. After drying I noticed the bracket need a little touch up.. Here are some pics:

Spent about 5 hours on the truck today. I took out the seat, floor mat, armrests, and some interior trim and did lots of cleaning on those parts and the gas tank and floor boards. There is a quite a bit of rust on the floor but nothing too serious. I plan on getting a new floor mat but for now i just took some pieces of the old ripped up one to cover up the rust spots. I'll let the pictures tell the story..

Today I took out my original AM radio and modified it to play music from my iPod via a small audio cable that plugs into the iPod's audio jack. Let me know if you want to know how it's done!

Wow. Well I haven't posted anything in a loooong time so I guess I'll give an update and give a link to a lot of pics. Here is the list of what I've done.

Tried putting on 2 different sets of headers but they didn't fit
New MSD dist
Oil/filter change
New air cleaner assembly
New Edelbrock 600cfm carb
New Holley mechanical fuel pump
New valve cover gaskets
New BFGoodrich Radial T/As
Polished my aluminum rims
New plug wires

In the past few week's this is what I've done

Pulled the engine and trans and disassembled the engine down to the crank, rods, and pistons.
Pulled the front clip
New timing chain
Cleaned and repainted EVERYTHING including inner fenders, core support, frame, firewall, suspension, and all of the engine.
Planning on buying a new cam, headers, lifters, and pushrods
