Going To Get The Ol' Truck

Post by ford4x4fun »

Well it has been about 4 years since I did the cab swap on my truck. Here in a few hours about 7 AM I am jumping on a plane to go get the old girl. I will spend a couple days at mom and dad's hanging out and prepping the truck. But should be an interesting trip for sure!

That is awesome to hear! Thank you for the tours you have served for our great country. Have fun working on your bump. I think you have earned it!

What prepping needs to be done on your bump?

Nothing Major, she has got all new belts, hoses, brakes and fluids in her right now. I am just going to drive it a little and get her loosened back up. Make sure nothing is wanting to go our on it. 800 miles give or take from my parents to my house!

Congratulations! If you're coming through Georgia and you get in a bind, there's a few of us members scattered along the route to lend a hand. I'm about 45 mins east of I-75 exit 317 and about an hour and a half from BobbyFord. If you're coming through there this weekend and need help, give us a shout out! Have a safe and fun trip and thank you for your sacrifice for our country!

Thanks all I sure do appreciate the offer of help! If all goes well the old truck will do just fine. I washed the old truck today and took it on about a 50 mile run. She runs and acts better than my F250, but I did just have a bunch of prep work done to the truck. If you all want to send me your numbers just in case  but I am feeling pretty confident in this trip. Jeff I will be driving through sometime on Saturday if your going to be close to the interstate!

I am just off I77 exit 18 near Charlotte NC. Coming through here? Do we have a member map? Our little NC group has a phone and location map for when we are moving around here in NC. I know if I have trouble I can get help from somebody. Nice thing to have handy when you are on the side of the road away from home and in a bind.

Thanks everyone for the support I sure do appreciate it. Drove the Ol' Truck all day today found a few little problems and one big one. All these years after the guys jacked up my transmission I found out today that the one they put in didn't line up, and the bolt holes didn't work. They used some sort of liquid nail on it. So today I got some little clamps from the hardware store and made a temp fix until I get the truck home. I took her out and drove her hard using the clutch and putting a lot of pressure on the tranny. They held up so I hope this trip will go nice and smooth. We should start a section somewhere of people along routes and phone numbers in would have to be in the members only section though for sure!

Have fun. To far away to stop by here, but I'm feeling confident all will go well.
