Only time I ever got waved to by another vehicle the same as mine was with a Jeep. "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand." I very rarely get a wave from other Alfa Romeos when I am driving that, and there are only about 12 in the state! :dk:

bump drivers almost always wave around here (no matter how shabby or pristine their ride)
5.0 mustang ,old muscle car and ratrod guys & even some of the old coots in their restored 50's & 60's tugboats will throw a  thumbs up if your truck sounds good and gnarly ...& for whatever reason alot of harley guys wave at my truck when its on the road...
but for some reason most early mustang owners won't no matter what - :hmm:
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

I would wave more, but I have a manual transmission and no power steering. I grin like an idiot every time I drive my bump. That must count for something.

It's a east coast thing, mainly with the yuppies and generation X. Although around here most guys driving a classic or a Harley will give you a thumbs up for sure

The only time I remember waving or being waved at was in my old VW Beetle, or on one of my bikes.

There are so many clapped-out old trucks where I live that no one really pays attention to them. In fact, the only recognition my truck got was when people wanted to talk to me because it has Wyoming plates and they naturally assumed that I am from Wyoming.

Pretty much the same on the southwestern end of the state. The guy up the street from me has a 60's Mustang. He looks right thru me. :( With a Harley dealer in town we get a lot of bike traffic around here. It's rare when they don't wave or give a thumbs up. :) A few weeks ago I was approached by 4 guys at the local Exxon station. All 4 were riding Harleys and just wanted to look at my 72. Had me worried when I realized all 4 belong to one of the bad boy bike clubs but we had good bs session and waved as we went our seperate ways.

I've noticed the Jeep thing when I would ride around with a friend in his Jeep. I've noticed recently the Mustang thing when driving the five-oh around. For the most part, I wave at ANYONE driving around in a classic, collectible, muscle car, streetrod, rat rod, etc. I especially notice all makes of classic trucks and they notice me too. We'll usually have a look followed by a peace sign, a thumbs up, a head nod, or a wave.

I was trying to be a little Politically correct I guess but agree 100% If a person in a bump, classic car of any make or a bike waves at me I'd bet all my meager savings they grew up around here. Huntersville has so many rich Lake people living and or driving around here and they are all stuck up. My own sister in law wouldn't wave at me I bet. She owns a bunch of land on Lake Norman and married a race car crew chief after shopping the Busch Series a couple of years. lol Lake people are very stuck up.
I have noticed the Classic Mustang people around here are the very same way. There are two Mavericks around and they always wave. I guess Mustang people are usually richer and above me in class.
I can seal with that.

In my area it seems bump owners dont know what they have! lol

Highboy drivers, thats another story. When i pass another highboy in my highboy, we get excited lol
Last guy was a in a slickside f250 4x4 lifted about the same as mine, he drove by opposite direction and instantly through the horns up super excitedly, I couldn't quite throw the horns up fast enough back at him but it was great!

I know I wave at everyone I pass and half of the time I get waves back. The only group I can say will wave at me every time is the motorcyclist group when I am on my bike. I do notice if I wave early enough I can get a wave out of everyone but what can you do.

I wave at fellow LS owners since there's so few of us. Most other folks don't wave anymore. Classic Mustang guys are more status symbol drivers. I think a lot of the 'hobby' went out with all the resto shops. It's seldom a personally built car, more of a catalog built car. Same for the plastic hot rods.

Per the NC guys, according to my redneck buddy who was forced to relocate there, it's a pretty backwards unfriendly place to any perceived 'Yankee'. He said about half of them were still sore about losing the civil war. He said he has a terrible time going to junk yards for T-bird parts unless he takes a local along. Weird poop
