I dunno... $25K seems pretty steep to me. At that price you could buy your own pick-up with any body style you like and refurbish it pretty nicely.

:?
Could be the bidder realizes what it's going to cost him to build one and can bypass that step by paying it now and driving away. Like you said, it's good looking truck. On the other hand, auctions sure incite strange emotions; the last few farm sales I've been to have seen junk bid up pretty high. Or just tune into BJ or Scottsdale...

I've been looking at local truck/part prices lately, people are asking some really silly prices. I've been monitoring a local truck that has been for sale the past couple of months, the guy has dropped a couple of grand from his original asking price. I emailed him and told him what I would offer for his truck, he's getting closer, but he's not there yet.

For a while as a teenager I got fed up with #50's problems and put a For Sale sign in the window. I think I wrote some huge amount like $3,500 or something like that, not really knowing what it was worth, and not wholeheartedly wanting to sell it.

Now I'm glad I wrote such a large figure on there, since #50 turned out to be a source of a lot of enjoyment over the years. And even after all the time and cash I've put in to #50 in recent years, it's still probably not worth much money!

I guess the basic thing which must prevent the cash value of nearly all Bumpsides from being very high is that there are so many of them around still. Like I've read in comments from others many times, this will probably change in another twenty years as they continue to vaporize.

Here you have a good example of two extremes in marketing...First one has over 1400 views, is over $23,000...Second one, 427 views,$2,250.00...Note to cameraman on the 2nd ad: Tell the guy with the cell phone to get the hell out of the way when you're trying to take a picture of a truck you're selling for 10 grand...And don't use your little sister's old camera phone...The ad looks more like a facebook page...Seriously, pricing aside, which ad seems more trustworthy?...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

This is true...and yes, unfair. Not to stray too far from the thread but anyone ever thought of building a shorty out of LMC's panels?

Bingo! the key is good advertising. I just sold a vehicle for more than kbb value and had a lot of interest from my craiglist ad simply because I put the effort in detailing it and taking good quality pictures with a good camera. Looking at this guy's photos you could almost see yourself sitting in the cab driving the street. Although I dont really like it, it is exceptionally clean and I hope he gets as much as possible for it, it only helps raise the value of everyone's truck.

I have looked into it while dreaming up this and that. My truck was possibly an original flairside. It would be a fairly expensive bed, but it would be brand new! If I remember correctly it would be over $3k in parts...

Bidding is over and the final bid is $26,199, I would have never guessed it would have brought that. I guess we'll see in a week or so if it really sold or not by the feedback left. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 7974304400

I guess asking $4500 for mine wouldn't be to much after all....
