So in a little stuck spot right now Im installing some autometer gauge set under the dash just the simple three pod chrome setup.Well i totally forgot that my truck has this huge factory AC/Heater box under the dash.....so i cant put the set where i wanted to so now im thinking of pulling out the unit an replacing it with a factory Heat only unit so i can utilize my glovebox like its built for So my question is what is all needed to do the swap over? I know i need to find a unit to swap out but what years an models am i looking for? An no my truck does not have any A/C parts other then this unit under the dash, and i have NO plans on putting A/C back in it.
All of this just so i can put a little three gauge pod under the dash

Have you considered upgrading the instrument panel to the one from an F600? It's a direct bolt-in and is setup for standard round gauges. Looks pretty cool I think.
I have seen a few pics of them in trucks an they do look cool, But i already have these gauges an have been sitting on them for years, left over from my Dart project so its time to use them. That an i have no clue how hard or how many bills id have to shell out for one of those haha

Will do. I assume the trucks where all layed out pattern wise on the hardware end to make this an easy swap with work.

here is a picture of where the heater core comes out of the firewall. all 67-72 trucks have these places for the heater hose outlets. a factory ai truck would have them on the bottom of the firewall heat mounting hump. http://www.fordification.com/images/70explpics/17.jpg
Ill have to take a look at where mine are, i could of sworn it was identical to that picture. If im wrong then i would need to pop two new holes in the wall?

Hmm. I guess I didn't comprehend the real question. I don't know what's involved in the A/C removal, but that seems to have been covered already.
An F600 instrument panel, in good shape, with gauges, sells for around $100 on eBay, which is why I haven't ponied up for one.
I'm kind of.thinking of keeping it now since its all there except the engine bay parts haha
