Anybody want to share pix of your bump with a camper top? One day I would like one on my 67, at least for road trips and camping.

Did Ford make a "factory" topper for bumps the way they did for dents?

Here's mine. The topper is actually for a Chevy, but I don't know what year it's for.

Both mine have camper shells. The one on the 68 is pretty peculiar looking..
The one on the 74 is actually the best for camping. The main reason I have one
on the 68 is to be able to keep loads of tools, etc in back, and not have them get
rained on. But it would be OK to camp in also, if I felt so compelled. The main
drawback to it vs the 74 is the windows. You can open those louvered windows
on the 74 camper, and rain will not get in. You try that with the sliding side windows
on the 68 camper, and you will end up with soggy bread.. Even with the screen..
That shell on the 68 is actually from a wrecked Dodge Dakota, which is actually a semi
small midsize truck. But being as the utility bed is shorter than a standard Ford bed,
it was a perfect fit length wise. It's a tad narrow, but can't have everything I guess..
But, it does let me have my ham radio antenna mounts on top of the side tool boxes,
which I wouldn't be able to do if it covered the full width. So I get a shelf on the outside,
and also a narrow shelf on the inside where the side windows are. One thing.. That
utility bed had only a short little tailgate. So I had to make an upper tailgate to fill
the space between the little shorty gate, and the back camper window. I made the
one you see from the base of an old gas furnace. And I have a spare one, in case that
one ever gets whacked out. I have lock hinges on it, and use short bolts to lock it into
place below the window. That 74 is now mothballed away in the garage, which is why
it's not in the newer upper image. It's hiding behind that garage door.
BTW, the 74 camper has the back window removed, and you can climb to and fro
between the camper and cab of the truck. The 68 still has the back cab window in
place, and the shell has sliding windows up front. You can't crawl between them in
the 68.

Just kidding. Couldnt resist. Its factory part and on like a camper so my imagination took control. Sorry no pics for you of any real campers. Havent seen many on these ol bump trucks myslf. But if i do, ill upload kinda like an apology.

Ok. Serious now. heres a 68 with a plain jane ol aluminum topper. Not mine but guy has truck for sale on facebook fordification group. Pretty nice.

Thanks, guys. My dad, then I, had a used aluminum shell on his 78 Datsun, a shell that must have been for a full-size stepside American truck, because it was wider than the Datsun.

In later years I had a used aluminum shell on my Mazda, then my Toyota, a lot like 70_F100's with the bubble plastic windows, and it had a ladder rack on top.

Wonder if anyone here has gone with the new "custom fit" fiberglass toppers?

Here is a pic of my 71 with camper shell. I was going to get rid of it and look for an older Alaskan camper but the shell is going to stay and I will do some modifications for some light camping.
