Toys?
Am I strange? I collect toys for inspiration on my bigger projects. I've had a 74 F-100, a 53, a 56, and now I'm working on a 1970 Ranger XLT. Toy replicas of 53-56 F-100's are plentiful! I've found them on ebay, Walmart, toy stores, drug stores, and even grocery stores, and truck stops. I've seen all different sizes. Some are customized and others are stock. I figured it wouldn't be a problem to find a 70 truck, but I was wrong. I have only found one anywhere in the world - in, of all places, Brazil.

Nothing wrong with your collecting. I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up.

I try to find model cars and trucks that I am working on,and try to put them together to make them match the way I want the real thing to look like.

Re: Toys?
Other than the door not having the window frame included and the gas cap in the wrong place, it doesn't look too bad for 1/43 scale. A friend in California sent me two '70s in 1/64 that were made in Argentina. I'll get pics added to the diecast thread.

Hey MK,
Funny you should mention the missing vent window - anybody know of a good kit for replacing the vents with a single piece of glass?

Re: Toys?
Nothing at all wrong with toys. I've got hundreds of Matchbox, Hotwheels, Jada, etc. die-cast hanging in their blister packs and sitting on display in my garage. I also still build plastic models and have around 125+ still in their boxes...I collect them faster than I can build them! I usually build them like I would if they were full scale and I could have them in my garage. I have many, many '56 die-cast and models too. These photos show just a small example...

...and perhaps my most serious 'big boy toy' is this 1/5 scale radio controlled dune buggy. It has a 26cc weed whacker motor with a tuned pipe and runs on premium pump gas mixed with 2 cycle oil. It's a HOOT!!!

Re: Toys?
Finally got a pic of the blue 1/43 truck I picked up...

It's actually a really nicely finished truck, other than the bland wheels. Fortunately I've got five spokes that I can borrow from a 1/43 deuce kit...
Also pictured is one of those '72 Hotwheels Texas drive 'em 2009 holiday hotrods and a Hotwheels '79 truck.
Here's a plastic 67 in roughly 1/32 by the Lucky toy company of Hong Kong...

Was going to add these to the diecast bump thread but apparently it's no longer taking submissions...
