Re: Why are the trucks call bump
While your truck has the chrome trim down the side, some dont. But all of the 67-72 Ford trucks have the BUMP that is under your trim. That is why this model is called a Bumpside, or Bump. The earlier model is called a Slick, while the later model is called a Dentside or Dent because they have a "dent" where our Bump is...

Re: Why are the trucks call bump

Re: Why are the trucks call bump
Mine stays open all the way. But the hood latch remains at exactly forehead level.fordman wrote:has anyone considered using hood shocks to keep the hood open all the way? i was just something i thought of just now.67MercM100 wrote:No Doubt!! Re: Why are the trucks call bump
After working on my brothers 70 Cougar with that great big snaggletooth thing on the front of the hood, the latch on the truck is no problem.

Re: Why are the trucks call bump
i've learned to duck around the latch (most of the time) ...maybe its just the repeated concussions talking, but i'd still rather crack my head than impale myself on the latch on a 70's-80's chevy p/u
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...
