How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Are you going thru the "2011 heat wave?"
We have had over a month of 100+ temps, no substantial rain in 3 months. Were burning up. The grass is long since dead & the trees are starting to die do to the heat. My Redbuds at the house are looking puny & I water them every 24 hours. We have a HUGE Bald Cypress outside our building at work that is burning up. We let the hose run on it all night 5 nights a week & it's still not enough water.
The high here today was 103 & as I type it's 99 @ 2039 hrs. We could sure use some rain

it has been hot the last two weeks up here. most of it was the humidity. this week has been hot but not real hot like the previous two weeks. however our grass is dead in large areas. and i have a tree with a problem. i dont think its aheat problem though. i do have other bushes with dead braches. that are from the heat.
We have been in & out of the 100* stuff but we won't hit our "hot" temps until Aug/Sept. Last year we had a month that was over 100* for the entire month. Sept. 2010 we hit 119 in Woodland Hills
Yep, been a weird year, lots of rain early, now hot. My local fishing rover has rocks out of the water I've never seen before in the last fours years of running it.
We have seen the 90s up here. The grass is definitely taking a beating. I love being outside but not in this hot of weather.

Why is it that the trucks are always the best running vehicles in the family?

here in kansas city we have been sharing in all the oklahoma heat this summer. i think we have only officially hit 100 a couple of times, but it has been in the upper 90's with lots of humidity for about a month now. gotta love summer.

I don't mind the heat & the humidity honestly. It isin't pleasent by any means, but I can take it. What burns me up is the lack of rain. Half the state or better is a tender box waiting to go up.
Plus we have a burn ban on right now. Everytime we move a train at work we have to wait on the fire dept. to bird-dog us. That being said, if a fire did start up, in these conditions it would be out of control in a matter of minutes.

Heat index here yesterday 105-109, and like that most days now. I try to leave early in the AM for work so I can go home early due to the heat. Seen both many times in my life, (dry heat with no rain and fire threats / as well as the humid steam bath I work in here now). More than once had my rooftop sprinklers fired up and police came around to evacuate us in Florida.
I'm going through about 4 quart bottles of Gatorade and two green teas a day for the past month!

In my area here in central TX we have had 45 days now of over 100 ambient temp, 24 days in a row. They dont count the many days it was in the high 90's with heat indecies over 100. Yesterday it was 106 here at my house. Heat indecies put it up to 110ish all the time. We have not had any substantial rain since May, and we were already in a drought since it didn't hardly rain all last winter. We have been running on wildfires like crazy here. I think to horny crickets can start a grass fire.
Global warming is definetely taking hold in Texas!

Hot and humid here in NC with little to no rain in a long time. What burns me up is seeing my grass withering and watching those beautiful thunderstorms go right around us every single time.
Supposed to reach 101 here tomorrow with our regular high humidity

Its been a normal summer here so far,got in the low to mid 90's the first week of June and has stayed there almost every day,we have been getting rain so its not too dry, but the sandy soil dries out in a hurry. We won't cool down till the end of October. No hurricanes so far. We are allowed to run the sprinklers twice a week.
Here in the Pacific NorthWET, we have only had a couple days this year that were close or in the 80's. It has been raining so much that I have totally forgotten a few times that it's actually summer time.
The wet and mildly warm weather has my driveway looking like a Jeep trail in Cambodia. I have never seen brush grow like this around these parts.
Usual by this time of year, I have logged about 10 to 15 thousand miles on my bike. This year, 2500. It's not that I even mind riding in the rain, actually, I kinda like it if it's not too cold, but the fools on the road around here are deadly on dry pavement, you mix that with a little rain and you're just asking to be hood ornament.
They say "always ride your motorcycle with the assumption that other drivers do not see you". I tend to act like they see me VERY clearly and are trying to kill me with their car.
