Re: Talk about hot. . .
It sure has been a hot summer! I am used to the heat, but this summer I gained a whole new appreciation for air conditioning because I worked outside all day long for 11 weeks in Elberton, Ga. For those of you who aren't familiar with the geography of Georgia, the far east part of the state(up against SC and around Augusta) is the hottest. For some reason that part of the state just "cooks" all summer. I was outside in 102 multiple times. It was real hard at first, but I finally got used to it. I'd drink 9+ bottles of gatorade in a couple hours and still no be fully hydrated.
Oh yeah, I forgot to say I was doing manual labor most all of the time(digging ditches). It was so hot that one day, I put a tarp on the ground to unwrinkle it and by the time I folded up back up, the grass was DEAD where the tarp had been. Cooked, burnt, and browned in only a matter of minutes.

Re: Talk about hot. . .
I just looked at the radar & it looks like some scattered showers are moving in from the East. Hopefully we will get a litte rain out of it
The Weather Channel was saying something about a system moving up from the Gulf of Mexico this morning that is supposed to bring in a bunch of rain. That would be sweet.

Must of us in Texas are praying for that storm to hit us. We need rain so bad we want the storms. I hope it moves up your way after we are done with it.

Re: Talk about hot. . .
NM5K, we need rain bad up here, but nothing like you guys do down there. One of my co-workers lives right on the lake at #9 & he is an avid boater. He said the water level on Eufaula is dropping pretty good. Im sure the CoE is running at least one turbine at the dam, so it's going to slowly keep dropping untill we get some rain.
Not much going on up here. You're not missing anything.

Re: Talk about hot. . .
Not to rub it in, but around here, it's been one of the wettest summers in quite a while. Nice temps, canola fields are in full glow (lots more planted than usual) and things are pretty lush. On one of our fairly scarce hot days you can see the grass grow... Getting lots of seat time on the ol' LT155 JD

Re: Talk about hot. . .
MK it sounds as if your area is blessed, we in South Georgia are in a severe drought. Rural residental homes wells have gone dry and the crops that are not irragated are lost as well as most of this years planted pines. Saturdays high is predicted to be 100* with high humidity to go with it. This is typical of the weather we have had since late May. Hope you folks in Texas and Oklahoma get some relief from that storm.

Re: Talk about hot. . .
Other than the odd tornado or hail threat from the t-storms that billow up in the afternoons, we are indeed fairly blessed this year. Wish I could send some of this south to help. Hope you guys see some relief soon

Here in Lubbock, Tejas...home of Buddy Holly and the Crickets...we haven't seen any wet stuff from the sky since October. Bad summer, too. It's been 101 to 109 without fail since mid June...by noon you have to retreat to anywhere inside, by 2 p.m. it's a frying pan outside. Good thing I get up at 5 and get all my work done by 11.

Re: Talk about hot. . .
The only positive thing about the drought here outside of Houston is I have'nt had to mow my property in 6 months!! I would gladly mow for some rain. The farmers in our area planted their corn and it grew about 3 feet tall and fried up. We are 25+ inches down.

Re: Talk about hot. . .
It has been rough here too. We did get a heat shower day before yesterday at my house but it wasn't much. This little bit of moisture moving up from the gulf has been popping up little storms that might only cover a 1/4 mile or less but I guess it is better than nothing.
