well hopefully i got it autozone gave me the wrong washers and napa gave me the right ones

The plate the points anchor to have a small indention for a small stud on the bottom of the points. They have to sit in this indention to keep from moving when they are tightned down. Check to see if the points sit flush on the plate if not loosen & reseat them in the indention then tighten them down.

You can get a rebuilt for about sixty-five bucks from rockauto.com and a little less for used on eBay.com, I bought a billet aftermarket dist. on eBay for eighty bucks to go with my gallery set up...

Dude get a pertronix pointless ignition they work great and you never have to mess with points again. Mine has worked perfectly for years.

Just a thought.
You are putting the grease behind the points rocker arm that rides on the distributer cam?

i pulled out the old distributer and got a new one now im just haveing wireing problums
