Thank You Robroy

Post by forrestbump »

My all new avatar was graciously created and given to me today by Robroy! This was done without any prompting (whining or complaining either) on my part. He simply did it! WOW is all I can say...

When someone goes above and beyond the call of duty, it's important to acknowledge and thank this behavior as it's so very rare and so greatly appreciated.

Thank You Robroy!!

Good evening Larry and other FORDification buddies,

Larry's a master at appreciating people, and that's why I felt inspired to whip up his custom avatar. I'm honored by the way he's publicly recognizing this small image I've made for him, yet based on all of his posts I'm not surprised either!

I've observed over the last year Larry answering many questions, and writing to people with a warmth that reflects an uncommon maturity. The way Larry talks to people makes me think that he has developed a special, constant awareness of how brief each of our lives is, and an ability to appreciate folks for what they are above what they have, what they've done, or what they know. Larry's account having the default/blank avatar didn't seem fitting to such an unusual guy.

I'd bet anything that if Larry's ever had an employee or helper, they've felt motivated to put their true abilities in to their work, because of the way he talks to folks. And I believe that all of us have profound abilities that are dormant most of the time, because we haven't had the good fortune to associate with a leader like Larry.

I used The GIMP to make Larry's new avatar. I found the Redwood tree image on the Web and threw it in there (I'm not nearly that good at drawing), and used The GIMP's tools for the rest. Here's a 200px edition. If I were to do it over again I'd probably try to lighten up the "BUMP" word a little to make it more clear, but I think the overall style suits his account name pretty well!

Thanks for all your contributions Larry, and I hope you're having a fun Saturday night!!!

When I saw that avatar, I thought WoW. :D

That is pretty much how I had it pictured in my mind every time I read the name.
The only thing different was a tiny park bench under the tree with Tom Hanks sharing a box of chocolates.
