people from craigslist
i have these 13 spoked rims on craigslist. the ad had already expired once. before it expired. almost immediately after i posted the ad. some kid emails. and wants to know this or that. and comes to find out they may not fit his vw. but he says he wants them anyway. fine heres my number call when you are ready to come. the ad expired so i reposted it. after he called once and didn't call back like he said he would. so this idiot when seeing me repost the ad uses my old email and emails me twice. do you still have them i am interested blah blah blah. i delete his emails. he finally calls and i guess he left a message. i didn't return the call because i was still mad. so he calls last night. i can hear him fine. he just keeps saying hello. i hung up. and figured i would call him later. my phone was dead. so i put it on the charger. i wake up this morning the phone was charged but turned off. i turn it on getting ready to call him. guess what he immediately had sent me a text about a minute after i turned the phone on. so i call him. no answer. to hel with phone tag i didn't bother leaving a message. so he calls right back. and the hello **** start right back again. this guy has shitpp service obviously. well before that he had sent another email last night. i ignored it last night. because the hello stuff doesn't get it for me. and he could wait. so now i am really pist off. so i email him one last time. call from land line phone only serious buyers will do that.

well he called back from his home phone a few hours ago. it seems my phone is the one that was breaking up. although i coul dhear him fine. he is suppose to be coming from two hours away. i thought he was closer than that. but those craiglist people are something else. and i have done similar stuff. emailing instead of calling. but i was after them not gettign my phone number. but i have kept in contact when i wanted something. and i didnt wait around either.

I put my Crown Vic on CL and forgot to post a front end pic. Ok my bad. Some jerkwad decided to email me to harass me that I was hiding some damage since i didnt post a front end pic. I fixed it and replied and told him to look again if interested to which he replied that he wasnt interested to begin with. Idiots. Im usually pretty good about my ads and reply to everyone unless they want to trade me for a Russian mail order bride delivered by a courier.

Re: people from craigslist
I have more Craigslist stories than you could shake a stick at...well, you could, but you would be very tired of shaking the stick.
The other day I listed a set of very nice Delortos carburetors and for a good price too, just wanted to move them. A guy gets a hold of me right away and of course asks if I will take 50 less than I am asking. I'm fine with that, I try to deal with people as well. I tell him I will not, because someone will buy them for what I am asking. So he agrees to pay what I want and asked to meet me at a certain spot (about 20 minutes from my house).
I load up the carbs and head out. I meet up with him and show him the carbs. He stares at them, pulls, squeezes, twist this, shakes that....this goes on for like ten minutes while he is telling me things he is finding wrong. Such as "the throttle shaft is loose" it's not, Delortos use sealed ball bearing on the throttle shaft, not bushings. I just did not answer, but was getting a bit fed up with the whole deal.
Finally he says "I'm going to take the top off of this one and look inside". I said, sure, hand me the money and you can pull the f***ker down to the bare body and run it over with your truck for all I care, but right now, they are my carbs and you're not pulling apart my carbs."
He goes back to twisting and shaking. Finally I just said "listen...I'm a better mechanic than you are, most likely better than anyone you know...you are not going to convince me that there is anything wrong with the carbs and offer me less money, I'm not stupid and you're just wasting my time, buy them or put them back so I can get home and eat dinner".
He pulls from one pocket the amount of exactly 50 less than what I wanted (his first offer), then reaches into the other pocket and pulls out the other 50. So irritating.

Re: people from craigslist
I had a good experience selling my 240 six cyl on CL. I got a reply from a guy who wanted to buy it and was willing to toss in a little extra for the engine stand too. So he pulls up to my place in his 71 bump with his son, and backed it up in my drive. Those two were enjoying life while we loaded it up on the truck. We had a good conversation about what he was doing with his bump and what I had going on in the garage. That was a good experience. Its nice to sell something to a fellow bumpside guy and chit chat about our projects. It was one of the more satisfying moments helping someone out who shared a common interest.

Re: people from craigslist
2 good friends of mine are guys I met by parting out cars, they are all around just good car guys that are cool to hang out with. but I have had my share of the strange ones to. I just love it when they don't read the add and then are disappointed to find out the $100.00 engine needs to be rebuilt and that they just can't drop it in and go. Really if it was good I would be asking a lot more or I would use it myself! Just read the dam add is all I ask!

"FoPar" because I love Fords and Mopars so just call me FoPar...

I listed a bunch of water lillies this spring for free, first lady sent her husband to pick up a couple, asked how big his pond was and he said they didn't have one...
Sold a tiny 15hp Cub Cadet with a 32" mower deck to a 350lb fat guy for $200. I asked him if he's sure he wanted it and he replied 'yeah, why?'...
Sold a chinese gas powered scooter to a guy for $100 that I found in a buddies junk pile. welded the motor mounts back on and away it went. Guy asked why I was selling it, told him 'It's junk', he was happy with it

Re: people from craigslist
Why do you guys keep using Craig's list - it seems to cause much angst.
Easy solution, don't want to deal with Craig's list people - don't use Craig's list.

Well, for every aggravating deal, there are ten good ones that went smooth, but no one wants to hear about "met some dude, I handed him my trash, he handed me money, we went home."
