Hand written nunbers on firewall and inside of the hood

Good Morning,I have just purchased a 1967 F100 from a family that got it from Grandpa that passed away a few years back,anyway with 45000 thousand on it I found a few things that I need help on, as I opened the hood on the back of the firewall and the inside of the hood there is the number 214 and it looks like a signature next to it on the firewall,could this be from the factory as they checked the engine and seeing if the lights worked ect? I really dont know but I do know that in the 1960s during assembly they did that during the production process.Anything will help! TThanks Mikee98335

You are correct. That is an inspectors signature. At work, I have to sign the parts I inspect. You may actualyy be seeing two inspectors ID's.

it some sort of assembly line number system. i think it mates each cab with the frame or something is what i remember reading.
