I kind of actually want to get a nice short bed and a nice long bed as well as tailgates. I have neglected my '67 stepside. I think it might be nice as a regular SWB truck. Maybe it will live on and not get "parted out".
The long bed would be for my F750 pick-up project. What do you think about shortening the wheelbase and keeping the cab it already has? It would save a lot of trouble swapping the cab with a crew cab. Is there any way to make it look right if there is a big gap between the cab and the bed. A tool box or sleeper berth or something? I could just put a bed on it but then there would be a gap in between the bed and cab. I was thinking also about a water tank because I am always hauling water for my trees in the country.
Maybe I'll just throw a bed on there and see what she looks like. Right now there is a cat walk behind the cab so I can still have the cat walk in between for now.
here is what she looks like now. The "cat-walk" thing could be modified so the bed will fit. And the fifth wheel will be removed of course. I was thinking of lifting the truck if necessary so the wheels will clear the wheel wells. I don't want it too high as to be dangerous. I am talking about spacer blocks under front and rear axles. Okay, so I am just brainstorming at this point...
