Work on or get a different one.

Post by Mancar1 »

One day I think it is ime to start back up working on the 68. I have a bunch of stuff I planned on doing to him. The next day I am thinking of selling/trading and going from there. Guess I should give it a while for the fog to clear before I make any big decissions. Think I'll take the 68 for a spin today, that usually makes me feel good.

i have been there. seel it or not. it depends on the direction you want your life to take i guess. is it transportation for you. is it a project to keep you busy . is it of sentimental value instead of any of those things?

Glad to see that I am not the only one who does this. My big move is to finally get something just the way I always wanted it and then dump it. When there is nothing left to do, I seem to lose interest. I really need to stop that. The 71 is safe no matter how much I do because of a sentimental attachment, but everything else has a chance of going on the chopping block any second.

Took me many years to get to the point where I could work on my bump. And now I live in a place i couldn't do it, so I feel fortunate I was able to get done what I did.

Way I look at the work that still needs to be done on my truck...
It'll be there for us to do tomorrow, drive her for while.

being able to drive em always makes it easier to keep em
my truck was off the road for over 4yrs (the motor was pooched and the clutch was wasted too so it wasn't goin anywhere)
if i hadn't owned the sucker for so long and had so many memories with the ol' pig i'm sure i woulda chucked it out just like so many other great ideas i've had come and go to the dump
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

fordman, the 68 isn't something I need, but it is a want. I use it to haul stuff, but I have a utility trailer and Vicki's SUV.

Ranchero50, that is what I am doing, I know I will get my interest back.

woods, I hear you. I have sold so many rides over the years that I had finished to my satifation, and then regreted it . Better hang on to this one for now.

basketcase0302, I know I am fortunate to be at a time in my life when I no longer have to be away. Also that I have a place to work on my projects when I want.

whateverman, after a long drive in the 68 I am of a mind to keep him for now.

If I do sell the 68 one day it will be to aquire a 1/2 ton bump. Or possibly a Fat Fender Ford.

Thanks all for your input.
