The way I look at it is if you don't try it you never know if you fail or succeed. And you already failed if you never try. Just my

Re: failing and wasting your time
But what if someone helps and they dont succeed? Then it would be an epic fail.
Theres always a bright side.
Just think if Norm Larsen had given up after his second attempt. We would never have WD-40.
Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he succeeded. There would be no Fordification.
Winston Churchill failed sixth grade. Who knows how the world would be today.
Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. We would have to light another candle just to use our high beams.
R. H. Macy failed seven times before his store in New York City caught on. Women everywhere would be lost.
Not helping probably huh? So whats the issue?

Re: failing and wasting your time
a helper would have not been able to fail. all they had to do was work the jack handle. and or what ever. the space i am workign in is too small. i cant get down there to start the botls into the starter. plus i dont have the right starter. i also have to figure out hwo to wire in the ignition switch and durasprak to get this engine to start. plus i have to finally support the engine before i can run it. it is a hugh bunch of shipt. and cant be done in the current location. so i gave up. the buyer will have to help me if he wants to see it today. my wife probably wont be home in time to help move the engine out of the garage before the buyer gets here. on top of that. the guy who wanted the door has now backed out. but buyer for the stove yesterday never shoed or called. but a new buyer for the solve just called. but i have the engine right in the pathway of the stove so now what? hook a chian o the enigne and drag it out of the garage? i guess so. it will probably tear it up. i have sat here now since my last post and doen almost nothing. i cant get answers on other forums so i cant move on to other projects. why not just sleep all day and do nothing forever?

Re: failing and wasting your time
Failure is a learning experiance. I just learn from it and move ahead. Life is to much enjoyment for me to just give up or sleep all day. I never say try, I just do. May take a few attempts, but I keep on going until I get it done. Our life is only as good as we choose to make it. But that is just me. I truely wish you the best.

i didnt learn much. other than not to pile crap behind other crap until the stuff in frotn is sold. the engine guy looks like he may not show up now. the sotve just left. thank god. i have no idea what i am going to put in place of the stove now. maybe the other two stoves i have and fridge over at the rental storage could go in there. ha.

Sometimes life just sucks, but what's the alternative? Eat the barrel of a shotgun?
That's not advice, BTW.

Re: failing and wasting your time
the engine is gone. i have tried to get rid of that engine for 3 years now. i didnt even have to start it up. wow. thats great. i have a hugh hole in my garage now. all i need to do is get those other three enignes out and loaded into the truck. and they can go to the junkyard. i also found out why the botls wouldnt go in to the transmission to hold the starter on. it is a newer transmission and the threads were metric. well duh. why didnt i think of that first. i should have check it. anyway. the enigne is gone. i stil have the transmission case. but no big deal its aluminum. if no one wants it. it can go to the scrap.

Re: failing and wasting your time
well i started out thinking i could do something adn then couldnt and finally figured out why it wouldnt work. i was pretty mad. i really wanted to start and engine on the ground. i have always wanted to do it. i also wanted to see if i could wire up the ignition switch and the dura spark. i have never done that. and i may have learned soemthing from it. i was just missing the right starter.
