Riders
I know that a handful of you guys ride motorcycles from what I have picked up here and there.
Bobby and I successfully hijacked another thread with some talk of it, so I figured I would start a thread where us riders and ex-riders could yap away about it.
So here it is...what bike (or bikes) do you guys ride? Dirt, street, scooter, whatever, it's all good, pictures, stories you name it.
Go.

Re: Riders
I was big into motocross throughout my early 20's but sold my bike a few years ago when I moved to Texas. It was a great way to eascape the world for me and I really enjoyed riding. I only raced once and did horribly, but I had fun. Mostly I liked riding trails and stuff like I did when I was a kid. One of the most fun places I have ever ridden was Carnige off road park just west of Tracy, CA. That place was insane fun and it had a motocross track along with miles and miles of trails. My second favorite was a night ride on an awsome motocross track in Milton, FL. What a cool experience to be going from jump to jump, getting big air and the only thing you can really see was where the track was lit up.
Since I sold the bike, I have had the intention of getting another, but life gets in the way. There are not a lot places to ride in this part of Texas and I cannot validate spending the money right now either with all my projects. Maybe when my diesel is paid off I can get one, if the wife allows it. I would also like to have a four wheeler too. Someday I want to get an older Harley, but they are a lot of money. I might have a problem, I will look into it, but I love those toys.

Re: Riders
I have been riding some kind of a bike for over 37 years (yeah really). Dirtbikes to start. I never raced motocross, I grew up in a small out of the way town and that sort of thing would have required parent involvement, and mine were not going to be involved in such a thing.
I did race flat track for a couple of years and really enjoyed that. I then moved into drag racing Harleys, which was also fun.
These days, I have an assortment of dualsport bikes, dirtbikes, Harleys and customs I have built. It's still a great way for me to unwind. I love getting out in the middle of nowhere on a bike, it's a great stress break.
Lately, I have been riding my dualsport bike a lot. Well, technically, it's a dirtbike that I made street legal.

Re: Riders
Been a few years since my last bike... just scored an old XL175 at a garage sale for a hundred bucks. Takes me back to an old kawasaki 185 I had a while back. Loved nothing more than getting up in the hills above town and burning off steam after work.

Re: Riders
My Dad rode an XL175 for many years, I belive he bought it new. I have a picture of him next to it from the early 80's somewhere in my stuff. I will see if I can find it and scan it for you.
Yeah, riding seems to be the one thing that can make everything melt off of me for a little bit. Oregon and Washington have some great spots to ride.

Re: Riders
Been riding 31 years. Started with a KD 80 then 175 Then at 15 yrs old I snuck and bought a 250 honda rebel while my parents were at work. Thought my dad would kill me for getting a street bike, but he said you already have it you might as well get insurance and tags
So from then on I have never been without a street bike. After the 250 I got a 750 shadow. Thats when I said I have to have a Harley. I've had sportsters, softails, fatboys and now I have a 100th anniversary heritage softail with big bore kit and lots of other goodies I ordered new and a Road Glide Custom for longer trips and bike ralleys. Had my arse skin up and beat up a few times but you just have to get back on and go again. Both my sisters and their husbands all ride so its a family thing I guess.

Re: Riders
I have owned many bikes in the past from my first CT70 in 73 to my next 78 ke250 street/trail. being a big MX fan and even a Bigger Rodger Decoster fan i switched to Suzuki and owned 3 late 70's rm 250s and 2 late 70's rm125s and raced vintage MX in the early 90s. after my best friend lost his life while out trail riding... and having a 18 month old son the wife said the bikes need to go.
i now have a 05 suzuki ute quad and have fun

Re: Riders
I learned to ride on a Suzuki GS500. When I shagged the motor I gave the bike away and bought my beloved KZ1300. Here is a link to some pictures of my bike:

Steve's bike is mine, I mean he is me. Sadly, we needed money for food and mortgage a few years back and I had to let her go. I still miss that bike...
All I have left is an old clapped out '68 Suzuki T200 that I saved because it was small enough for the wife to ride.

Re: Riders
Sorry you had to let your bike go Steve. I love those, they sound so great with the 6 into 1. I let go of a CB750 in all period correct cafe goodies not too long ago, that hurt. Really, the bike was a bit of a slug, but still fun to ride.

Re: Riders
Someone call me?
Right this second I am riding a borrowed 883 Sporty, thinking about a new Blackline or WideGlide (to my old sport-bike friends, yes, those are in fact pigs flying) and Katherine wants a Fat Boy Lo (she has a rebel), maybe we can get them when she gets out of school.
I've always had sports bikes including an FZR400, ZX6(E), ZX7R(P), Ducati 900 SSSP, RC51 and a Ducati Sport 1000. With age certain realities begin to come to light, for instance your lower back isn't what it used to be and you don't heal like you used to, so my next will be more sedate.
