Have your lawyer call them. DC will replace the item rather than get sued for $550. Especially since they sent you the wrong item and you can prove it.

I had back luck with them myself and I hate to run somebody down but when a person asks I tell.
I spent a LOT of money with them when I did a back yard restore on my 71 F100. I replaced the grill shell, front bumper, all window rubbers plus the front and back glass rupper, belt line chrome all around for a SportCustom, Hood ornaments, armrests, door handles and buttons, and lot of other parts large and small.
6 months after I finished the left arm rest tore loose and ripped. Never looked original anyway. By that time the hood side ornaments and door handle buttons had started to fade already. The buttons actually had a whole in the center of the button open up. I drove the truck to their shop outside of Charlotte since I am close enough and asked them to look at the parts and replace them. Well, as far as I remember the arm rests and door handle buttons were not covered because they were manufactured by some other company. So? The hood ornaments and door handles were not covered because they said they were not maintained well enough. They asked if it was my daily driver and it was so it was not parked under a covered area every day so therefore not covered under their warranty.
The vent window gaskets have leaked water and air and they said I installed them wrong.
Every part I bought from them at that time and had a problem with they had a reason why they wouldn't honor any warranty. So since I bought the 1st large order of parts about 12 years ago I have not bought a part from them directly since then and I live 20 minutes away. I also live 15 minutes away from NPD and would rather give my money to them now. Have had no trouble with them but honestly have not bought very much from them.
That is my History with them. Take from it what you will

I have went the after-market route on so many things and I really can't remember ever being totally happy with the quality of the part. Some stuff is just so hard to find anymore though. I do try and get original stuff as much as I can. I find that half worn out original stuff cleaned up makes me more happy than most of the new after-market.

Yeah i got one of their not so good tail gate handles off ebay for $10 shipped and couldn't see why it was lasted as slightly off on the ebay listing, it was as chromed as normal and bolted right up in place of the old rusted one. well 6 months later and the chrome was looking like that chrome spray paint that looks like aluminum when its dried.

I real say I bought one of their instrument cluster, the plastic chrome a couple of years ago as one if their rejects and the Charlotte Auto Fair and it looks a lot better than my original one. I hope it lasts better than the other stuff I bought from them.
My hood ornaments and outside door handles look pretty bad now.
I've long since thrown away the arm rests for junk yard van arm rests. F100 guys looking in the junk yards often overlook the 76-77 or so vans for arms rests.

on the Chrome handles I DO NOT SELL.... Only the S/S handles and mounting plates cause chrome is not worth a lot these days,, we can make mistakes as well BUT Thats why I try not to drop ship so we can look inside the boxes to be sure thats whats inside,, I know a lot of places will not take parts back once installed,, but should take back if boxed wrong,, just like calling lawyers,, they should be a last resort,, try to talk to somebody higher up than one that just answers's the phone to all ?'s is what I would do,, you can mention that you will file a dispute with credit card company and see if that gets their attention

I recently had a run of custom parts cast by a big name in aftermarket diesel parts. Parts showed up weeks late.... Parts were worse than junk, not even useable, machined wrong, bad finish- Really bad workmanship. The owner just didn't care. After several conversations, pictures sent of the defects he says "whatever you want to do I'll do". I say I'd like to return the parts and get the money back. The parts went back, they haven't refunded a dime. There's a few more days left before 30 days are up since the dispute began and VISA will step in to get the money back. I've kept track of all emails and phone conversations.

Call your card company and explain the situation clearly. Wrong part- You want the right part or a refund. Carefully package the grill up and ship it back to Dennis Carpenter with delivery confirmation. In 30 days from when the problem began the card company will step in for you if Dennis Carpenter has not done the right thing.

TO me this is where DC can take the lemons and make it lemonade out of it. Look mistakes happen, it is not the first time nor the last time. I had the same thing years ago on my 63 impala where the bumper started flake chrome off after six months. The supplier Ecklers late great chevy were helpful and the exchanged the bumpers. By them doing it I recomend them all the time and do my business all the time if I need something for the Impala. This was ten years ago and I look at just the recomendation alone they probably got over $15k in parts from my friends, so they recovered their costs plus some

I just stick with LMC! I don't understand why you keep ordering from a place that keeps messing up your order.
