As you all may remember I sold my 06 F-150 XLT a while back and bought the Ford Escape so Vicki could get in and out easier

Ya I should, but the Escape is a ways from being a little car. With the fast V-6 in it, I get 21-22 MPG.fordman wrote:i'd keep the little car.
I want one, but I know I should wait a couple years and let them prove themselfs. They are nice.fireguywtc wrote:Those F150's with the ecoboost are nice. I have seen a couple. The new crew cabs are very roomy and the lariats look really nice inside.
I would rent it, but on a lease and hope for no trouble when it was time for the people to move.cdeal28078 wrote:My aunt own 10 rental homes in the not so good area of town and has few problems. If your Escape is paid for and in good shape, I'd keep it. Since you know it's history, it's less of a gamble then getting a used F150 that may or may not have 'problems'.
The house next door, it used to be that real estate was a sure thing in terms of constant appreciation in value. The last few years have shown me that things are much different today as values have decreased a great deal. If your plan is to buy the home and rent it to your Daughter and Son-In-Law, that would be great. If your plan is to rent it to whomever...well keep in mind that the law is on the side of the renter, NOT the landlord. Bad situations require the lengthy legal process of eviction which are expensive and you'll not be getting income from the property while you have to continue making the mortgage payments plus legal fees for the eviction process. Lord knows the damage that renters can inflict on your home as well.
Just playing devil's advocate for you...

What your CPA states makes more sense. Something you might want to think about though...
A lot of folks are having issues with the automatic transmissions in the Escapes, and Ford doesn't seem to have an answer for it? Maybe "unload" it before it starts to show shifting issues?
