China cabinet to go to E coast
I wonder what it will cost me to ship Vicki's China Cabinet to New Hampshire from Northern Ca. Here Mother wanted her to have it. It is Cherry Wood, not particle board. Anyone out there in Fordification land making a coast to coast run? The door don't go with it.

Got my 1st est. on shipping the China Cabinet...... $850.00 Packed shipped door to door. Figured it would be around $700. plus. Oh well I will get to it in the next few months. Why didn't Vicki leave it to the daughter that lives 170 Miles away? Just kidding, I will see that the daughter in NH gets it.

I appreiciate your warning about what could happen when shipping the China Cabinet. I myself know a little something about fine furniture made of wood as I have been a avide wood worker for over 46 years.
Through the 22 moves Vicki and I made during our 36 years together, (military career, and civ. life). We became familar with the shipping procedures. A couple times boxed items became damaged or lost, but never once had a large pieace damaged. Maybe we were lucky who knows. One of my Son-in-Laws workes for a big moving company out of Fairbanks and they take good care of peoples belongings.
Who knows, I may decide to make the trip and deliver it in person. Not to worry you can't rain on my parade, I enjoy life to darn much.

I would try to find a carrier that will ship it directly, as in it's loaded on a truck and stays on that truck until it arrives.

Thanks for your input. Yes that is the way. The quote I got was from a carrier that goes straight through door to door. They also pack and guarentee against any damage. Whoever I go with the condition report will be carefully filled out and signed prior to packing. Along with dated pics.
