I have yet to find a good U-pull-it around here. I know they exist but not close by. Everything local is they-pull-it.Ranchero50 wrote:I can't go in the summer, ragweed is 6-7' high and I suffer for a week afterwards. it got so bad you had to jump roof to roof to get around. The other nice yard has around 500' elevation change in 700' of horizontal. It's brutal in the summer heat...

I guess I'm a little luckier than some of you. There's two of them 75 miles to the south (Omaha) and another one 60 miles to the north of me (Sioux City). I sometimes wish they were closer, but I guess it could be worse.
I've made 8-10 runs so far this summer, usually just as a fun way of spending the day. But I always find some treasures to bring home.

I'm kind of in the same boat as Keith as the best ones here are an hour north or almost two south. All kinds of smaller collections around spread all over the countryside as well and I try to hit those as I hear about them or spot them from the road.

in joplin,mo and miami,ok i know the yards that you can walk or have them pull. it just costs an extra 30 if you need help getting a part off. but they do try to find the smaller parts in their storage container first, and if it's in there they let you have it for the u pullit price.

I found a '67 rearview mirror and front sway bar... This has to be the easiest (and fastest) way to get that sway bar! Total was $75.00..

Yeah, I guarantee that it's gonna take a lot longer to install than it took to remove!Bullit wrote:I found a '67 rearview mirror and front sway bar... This has to be the easiest (and fastest) way to get that sway bar! Total was $75.00..

Re: Is it just me?... or is this common practice?
It would if it was on the back of a '77-older F250 4x4, but not if it was on a 2WD. With the frame being wider in the back of the 2WD's, the bar was wider and will hit the shocks on our trucks. (I know, 'cause I tried!)
