OT Arrrrrg!!!! *Bangs head against wall*

Post by OldRedFord »

So I go to leave to cut lawns this morning after letting my truck run for a bit and notice a puddle under the engine.....diesel fuel.

I just replaced the mechanical lift pump in the valley of the engine back in June, and then did the high pressure fuel lines not long after that. So the pump and all rubber lines on top of the engine are relatively new.

So far it looks like I bought a faulty pump, but I am hoping I just over tightened a hose clamp and that it cut into a hose.

I thought those 7.3 Powerstrokes were supposed to be reliable and last for 600,000 miles. Guess just not mine.

When does it stop?

The impression I always got from the 7.3 PSD crowd was, sure, the 7.3 will last 600K and more. It'll just take $20K in maintenance to get it there. I don't like all the things that go wrong with a 7.3 fuel system that cause it to not run.

I need a proper truck transmission and not a Lincoln one, then a drive shaft carrier bearing bracket. Two new freezeplugs in the block.

Is it a C-6 automatic you need for the 460?
I do remember the freeze plugs now.
The carrier bearing bracket would come new as a whole if I'm not mistaken?

Yup, would like to get a C6 with the correct tail shaft for a truck.

I need the part of the bracket that is riveted/bolted to the frame.

you might be able to one piece the driveline if you get one from a later 70's f-series truck with the same Drive line length.as i imagine that piece will be hard to find.
