What route are you taking on the drive home?

Wichita, Kansas City, St Louis, Indy, Ft Wayne, Toledo, Detroit,...
I really don't like that route, I find it extremely boring but we'll make the most of it.

Time to update this thread. We got back a week ago but just hadn't gotten around to this. This road trip involves two vehicles but neither of them is a Ford but please bear with me.
This used to belong to my dad but he passed away back in May and my step-mom didn't need it anymore and none of the family wanted it, so I being the youngest bought it.
Image
I know it's not a very practical vehicle but it's a nice reminder of my dad and the legacy he left me. It was in Mexico, so I had somebody drive it up to Amarillo TX for me. I have a friend in the Oklahoma pan handle that owns a small used vehicle dealer and he had this pick-up that I liked.
Image
So my plan was to tow the car behind the truck and bring it home to Canada.
Image
All went according to plan till about an hour into our trip back when the truck died and we left it there, got into the car and 1420 miles later arrived home here in Canada. This is the short version of the adventure but if any of you are interested in anymore, I'll gladly tell you more about it.

That bug has really been taken care of. Thats what I drove 26 years ago to get my drivers license. My older two sisters both had bugs while they were in school. They are tough little cars.

Yes it's in pretty good shape for a 20 year old car. That's right, its a 92 but look at the odometer. That is kilometers, not miles and it is accurate.
I learned to drive in a VW as well but a bus (kombi) not a bug.

Why am I not surprised that the Beetle out lasted the Dodge.... :P Sorry I had to say it  So did your buddy return the truck for you or are you having it shipped home? I bet that was a fun trip. Had I known you were coming through St. Louis I'd have offered to buy you breakfast at Waffle House or something. Glad you made it back ok!

Thanks Joe and yes, in this case the beetle did outlast the dodge and yes, my friend came the next day and picked the truck up and took it back to his shop to try and find out what went wrong. I haven't talked to him in a couple of days to find out where they're at. He told me if I didn't want the truck anymore, he would just take it back but depends on what they find, I might still go get it. I might even take you up on the breakfast in I got. It would be nice to meet someone from this forum in person.

Vicki and I both had Bugs back in the 70's. I had a 68, and she had a 66 with the sun roof.

I knew it was one of the newer ones from the park lights/turn signals in bumper instead of on top of fender, just didn.t know how new.

As far as the snow...I'm not going to find out because this is a toy and will not see snow. It does have heat and it works...at least in summer when you don't need any.

Thank you... I didn't see him very often (he lived a 24 hour drive away) but just knowing he would be there when I called was a comfort. He lived to ripe old age of almost 93. He was looking forward to going home and now he is.
