A running unibody for $50 ? thats sweet! what engine? a 6?
50 dollar trucks are always great,i picked up a pretty crusty (the cab mounts were completely missing - the cab was bolted thru a 2x4 to the frame with a piece of chain punched thru the floor as an added safety measure lol!) but good running 71 f100 (300/t-18 )for $50 - got some duct tape and covered the rust holes in the fenders, threw some used low-pro BFG's on some wagon wheels i got for free ,broke out the black paint and a roller and then gave it a flame job - then had way too much fun with it and had to make it go away....lol!
Never has a P.O.S. car
The $50 Unibody had a crinkled right fender and grille. But was driveable. I bought a fender and grille from the local P'n'P for less than $100 and drove it for about 5 years before rebuilding the motor.
This truck was built in late '62 and spent it's whole life in Palmdale, CA so there wasn't any rust.
Here it is in the 80's (with a baby pitbull in the bed, waiting to go for a ride). Fender and grille replaced and painted with rattle-can BBQ paint

My favorite was my '72 Plymouth Satellite. Bought it with around 130K miles on it for around $700 and drove it hard for the next 2 or 3 years after high school. 318/auto, baby s--t brown with an olive green interior. Put some brushed alum slots on it and I thought I was something. I loved that car. That 318 would haul a$$. By the time it hit 200K miles it was on it's last legs. Overheating, burning oil and no power. Bought a brand new '86 Dodge Ram and told the guy I had a trade in. He gave me $500 trade in on the Satellite, sight unseen. Said just drop it off in the parking lot after hours and leave the keys under the mat and he'd service and fill up the truck and do the same. I filled it up with oil and water and drove it the 15 miles to the dealership that evening after it closed and picked up my truck. As I was pulling off I could hear the old girl wheezing and popping and see the growing pool of water and oil under her. Worst...that '86 Dodge truck. Didn't have it 6 months when I hit an ice patch on the way home and went sliding sideways down the highway. Got broadsided by a guy in a, get this, 1967-1969 F100! I know because I can still remember watching that steel grille coming at me in slow motion. $5000 in damage and the insurance company fixed it. They had to put a whole new rear end under it, new bed, back right cab quarter panel, new back right wheel and tire, and straighten the frame. After that I never could get it over 75 mph and it went through back tires every 6 mos. A couple of months after I got it back from the body shop, I was washing it and noticed the tip of a pin stripe on the bed curled up. Went to pick it off and when I did, a sheet of clear coat a foot wide peeled off all the way down the side. Went back to the body shop that fixed it to find it boarded up and a sign saying Out of Business. I hated driving that truck for the next 2+ years till I traded it in, upside down of course, on an '89 Olds Cutlass Supreme.

I actually love that truck. It's been a part of my life for a long time. I had a dream once that I sold it (SERIOUSLY) and I woke up distraught with wet eyes. It's not for sale for any price (I'd prolly sell the S code fastback first).

I have to disagree about all s10's being pos. I had a 92 I would love to have back. Of corse it was not stock with the small block 400 and blower sticking out the hood and narrower 9in rear

I think my favorite so far is my daily driver: '94 Thunderbird Super Coupe with 5.0L from a '93 Bird. My least favorite was the '83 Thunderbird that I bought with the idea that I'd do an easy resto on it. Ha. Had a trillion hard miles on it, I swear every screw, nut, and bolt in that whole car had been removed and replaced at some point in its life. It was just the very definition of, "tired". It had a FI 5.0L that did run great, and it was a cool looking car after I shot it jet-black, but it was one of those cars where every single thing fought you, nothing was an easy fix, and when I finally sold it, I never missed it.

 if it was your absolute favorite non-bump vehicle then i will eat my words, even tho i have a long standing hatred towards s10's (because of their P.O.S.-ness and the repeated attempts to fix the not-worth fixing i've had to do in the past on them in futile efforts to keep female types happy ....without any kind of compensation :x )..and the fact that yours was far from stock :D
