I gotta brag

Post by Calvin Gunter »

I had not been to the local Pull A Part in over a year so I went on line today and it said they had three "Bumps".
They had a 69,70,and a 72.
So after work today I decided to drop by and see what was left on them.
Surprisingly enough there was some good stuff left on them.
Todays score was a drivers side vent assembly with the handle still in place, screws for vent, choke cable assembly, headlight ring, the foot for a bumper jack, front speaker bracket, door panel trim clips,FE dip stick and tube, headliner screw, floorboard grommet, and chrome dash plug.
And last but not least-1970 Bumpside bucket seats and brackets!!!!!
The seats are sort of an off white color and are in great shape.
If I had a white interior they would be good to go as is.
Who would ever thought such a rare, sought after item would be found in a junk yard.
They were in what appears to be a camper as it had an opening in the back of the cab.
Anyways, I get up to check out and the grand total for everything------$55.00 total !!!!
Just had to brag,Calvin

nice haul! especially the buckets! with the opening in the back of the cab -yup,that's a motorhome.
most of the bumpside motorhomes i've checked out had white buckets regardless of what color the rest of the interior was
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

I wish the local boneyards had an online inventory like Calvin's so I wouldn't have to waste my time searching the yard and coming up empty handed

Cool sounding Score there. Now for me its time to go try to score a 67-9 panel for below the grill. Then Im bout done with the necessary scores! Yes, Im that close to all the parts I need. Now Ill be needing sanpaper, primer, paint, bedliner, and all that good stuff along with tubs of elbow grease!! Anyways, enough rambling. Nice haul and good luck on your project.

When you find that elbow grease, pass some of it this way! I've got a bunch of stuff that could use it! :D

I could also use a 'round tuit' if anyone knows where to find them...

Found a round tuit one time but noone else did so mine didnt do me no good. Now I seem to have misplaced mine and they still lack the motivation to help on the things they "wanted to help with". So... I guess Ill have to brave up and start doing everyrything alone!! Ill send you some elbow grease at cost to me plus shipping if i get extra!! Looks like you found quite a bit of it and some round tuit to get as much done on your projects as you have. Take care. Sorry for hijacking your thread and rambling Calvin Gunter! I have a tendency to do that and not mean to. Guess it gets on lots of peoples nerves. Sorry. Good finds and good luck on the project. Keep us posted.

nice! good score. we have one main yard here but the trucks are picked over very well, no meat left on the bones. I have to drive an hour or 2 to find anything. kind sucks the yard by my old house had 10 or more trucks at all times. They would have a new one almost every time I went in, I never had the cash for everything. Now I have the cash and no parts to buy......
