No idea of value

Post by Slimy »

friend of mine has inherited his daddys truck...1978 F150 Ranger with 350 4WD. The cabs a mess, but body and everything else looks good. 4 new tires. He says it runs but needs electronic ignition switch. How much are these used? Anyway, he wants $900 "as is". I'm inclined to buy. Comments?

Grab it before someone else does. Interior parts aren't real hard to find .The ignition stuff can be had in any parts store. 350 4x4's used the Dana 60 front axle. Around here the front axle will bring more than he wants for the truck.

Do you mean it has a 350 engine or it is a F-350?
And it wouldn't be a 350 engine it would probably be a 351M.
Like Clay said above though...if it's a F-350 the 78-79 front D60 is well worth more than the asking price. The 78-79 would be my favorite years anyway. And you wouldn't want to put a used ignition box into it as they only run about 40-50 for a new one. Don't buy a "Standard" brand one though (red colored box) nothing but trouble with that brand from my expierence!
