Josh, not sure if i understand what you need or not but when you were talking about moving things around are you working on a smooth surface or in your driveway? Reason form me asking is as I said before I do most things myself also and these car skates as I call them have been real handy for moving all kinds of things around.

Oh, and FoPAR, I love the Aspen. My dad had one, not R/T just 6 banger, in the early 90s and my uncle had plain jane v8 car. Those were some cool ol cars. Never see many around here. After the 2 ol brown ones they had were gone, noone around here seemed to ever be interested in the ol cars. Saw 1 at a local show bout 2 years ago and brought back memories of the ol days!

Hey Josh, I have the same problem most of the time. My brother will help me but he lives 70 miles away. My 10 yo son helped me put the steering gear back into my F350. My 12 yo daughter and my 7 yo son will help too. My wife does small jobs with me when I need her to but she can't lift much for medical reasons. I have done a lot by myself with the help of ratchet straps and a two wheeled dolly. If I can figure out how to get something on the two wheeler then I can usually get it moved.

Wow guy's, I feel for those of you who can't get help when needed. I met two guys on another site, one lives about 50 miles from me, the other close to 100 miles. My friend who lives 100 miles away drives a 66 f100 that gets roughly 11 miles to a gal. that's his daily driver. If anyone of us needs each other were there in an instatnt. I'm married with a kid and so is one of my other friends. The one that lives the furthest is single (way cool life for him he lives a block from the beach) My point is, we've been friends for a while, we get together once in a while hit the swapmeets or meet up at a car/truck show. We're friends who would help each other no matter what.
I have a fantastic wife who knows the value of friends, and would not interfere. I do the same for my wife. I've always done things on my own never asking for help, so when I do ask for help, my friends know I need their help now.
I guess I'm lucky to have "Friends."

I hear ya, Josh! I knew when I started on mine that I would have ZERO help from friends or family. They're the first to holler FOR help and the last to be there when you need it. So I built my carts and dollies and did it totally on my own. This cart has been the best thing I've ever built. 8" rubber pneumatic swivel casters make it all terrain. I've used it to move my bed and frame around the garage, drive, back yard, for blasting and painting, etc. Finally, last Easter, my wife's three sons came over and I told 'em if they wanna eat, they gotta help get my bed around back and unload the dolly. That's the only time they've helped though.

I understand what you are saying. If they say they will be there then I expect them there. My friends wouldn't say they would be there and not at least call to say they couldn't make it. Like I said though, I don't have a lot of them but the people I call friends, not just people I know but friends will be there when I need them or call and say why they couldn't be there.
I'd have to say that the people you are calling friends who never show up and don't call but leave you hanging are more along the lines of just somebody you know and get a long with when together.
I have had to learn ways of doing things by myself over the years since my friends work, have families and most live a ways away from me. I have pulled engines alone, swapped in disc brakes, automatics and power steering all alone. Just about anything to do with a truck I have done by myself.
An old man told me two things once that always stuck in my mind.
If you want to find the easiest way to do something then give the job to the laziest man on the crew and that the older you get the smarter you work. lol

Don't get me wrong, I have some great friends, but when I need help they are usually at work. Since I work an odd shift work schedule I am forced to do a lot by myself. I do have some really good friends that would bail me out of jail or pull me out of the ditch at 2am but I still usually just do stuff by myself.

The only thing I ever ask of my 'friends' is to not go out of their way to screw me over when given the chance. They can't even seem to get that one right.
