Thank you Tropical Storm Lee...finally moved the jetstream and we have had two days of cool, really cool temps and some drizzle. Got down to 55 last night and the high for the next few days is projected in the 80's. Gotta start wearing long pants in the early morning hours or I'll wind up with a cold, but that's Texas weather for ya.

Lets hope (make that pray) that the Bastrop TX area gets some rain immediately. 10,000 acres burning and 0% contained at this time. They are sending in firefighters all the way from the Texas Panhandle to help. :help:

At least our temps here in Northeast Texas are supposed to be in the high 80s and low 90s this week. We've gotten a lot of wind from Lee but not a drop of rain. The wind has taken down several power lines, which started fires which the wind then spread My daughter had to leave her home in Diana, Tx. yesterday because the smoke from nearby fires got so thick and she had no electricity.
There is/was a big fire just about 10 miles west of us. Fortunately the wind is blowing west so we haven't been effected by any of it.

as of now there is little containment, 25,000+ acres burned and over 300 homes lost. It is really bad. We have been fighting wildfires for the past few weeks and yesteday it blew up again. The colder weather that brought the high winds from the North was nice, but very bad for fire danger, and there was very low humidity with it. Possum Kingdom is still burning too and what forestry crews are not there were sent to Bastrop.

The good side of it is we have finally finished with the 100+ weather. We are supposed to get into the high 80's today with lows in the 50's :woohoo: We officially had 83 days of 100* weather, unless there is another rogue 100* day that comes up soon, we are done. Now we just desperately need rain.

Ditto on the rain, up on the Caprock we are still dry as a bone...only about 3 inches since October. Don't look like we're in for any snow this winter either. I'm getting tired of removing burnt landscaping and dying tree branches, etc. You guys stay safe if you are anywhere near those fires. We live in town, but if we were in the country, I'd have plowed up a firebreak a long time ago.
