michael69, those 67s were to me, the best looking body style anyone ever came out with. I had a 6 cyl. in the 66 and that thing was bullet proof. It was always ready to go whenever and whereever you wanted to go. I wanted to put a bigger motor in it so I refused to add any oil to it. Finally, it gave up on my way home about a month later. And that was driving it every day.

Banging gears in this one still puts a smile on my face. Cleaned it and took it for a ride yesterday (daughter calls it her future first car):

Well the most hated cars all belonged to my wife. When we got married she had a 94 Chevy Lumina, 4 door, 4cylinder, auto trans. That thing was a dog. It had no power and if you drove through a puddle it would die and you would have to wait on it to dry out some before it would start again. The interior was falling apart. the dash cover was peeling up at each corner and the door panels were falling off. The car only had 104k miles on it. She also had a 98 Ford Windstar that was a total piece and then there was the 01 Tarus that was nothing but trouble from the day we got it. It was a year old and had 15k miles on it and the blower motor went out on it a few months after we got it. The cam position sensor went out at less than 100k and the thing would eat tires like candy. Something happened at 125k and the engine locked up. The 98 Dodge Grand Caravan we just replaced wasn't too bad considering that it has 200k on it but it seems that almost every bolt on that thing either has or is about to fall out. The starter fell off the thing one day because the bolts had fallen out and the ac compressor clutch bolt did the same thing. Now the instrument cluster lights will go out and flash.

My favorites have been my 01 Focus ZX3, 01 Ranger, and my F150. The Focus was kinda dorky looking and I really didn't like it at first but the more I drove it the more I loved it. It was fun and fast, even with the auto trans, and it was nice to open the moon roof when the weather was nice. One day there was a camaro and a mustang racing on the interstate and I was able to keep up with them in my little Focus! The 01 Ranger was just a plain Jane 4cly with an auto trans. No frills just a truck but it was a joy to drive. I put 228k on it and only had to change the thermostat, ac compressor clutch, and coil pack, everything else was original. I hauled a lot of stuff with that truck and went a lot of places in it. Great little ride. I traded it in on my 07 F150 Supercrew. It is a really nice truck. It is roomy and comfortable has enough power but still gets decent milage for a full size truck. I just hope it is as good as the Ranger was.

ever notice how the wife or girlfriend or whatever female company you have always seems to have the not only lamest, but also just all around crappiest rides?
whats up with that? :hmm:
- personally ,in the past ,due to their vehicles states of disrepair and/or unroadworthiness, i've brought home a few pretty decent - bordering on wanting to keep em for myself - rides for the ol' lady and for my dear departed mother and had them flat out refuse them with great indignation, only to have them go buy themselves yet another lame P.O.S. that not only cost at least 5 as much as the vehicle i bought for them, but also turned out to be the biggest lemon they could find....

  that's pretty funny about that caravan starter falling out,the mustang gt i had (#1 on my hate list) had the same issue (among others)

they use those focuses alot in rally car racing,so i don't doubt that little sucker had a little jam in it

oh - and nice 'stang by the way 390bump - is it a 5.0 or an OHC motor ?
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

Whateverman, it is weird how that all worked out. My wife had bought the Lumina before we got married and it had to go! Three months after we got married I traded it for a 94 Merc Sable. The Tarus we had was just a lemon. We both looked at it and thought it was a good buy, boy were we wrong! The Windstar was given to us so I really can't complain too much about it but it still was a piece. We both looked at the Dodge and thought it would be pretty good even though it was high mileage and we were only looking to get a year or two out of it, and we got that, but it sure got crazy because I never knew what was going to fall off next!

My wife actually picked out the little Focus and the Ranger for me and they have both been great cars.

I have 2 favs.. First is the bump and a close second would be a 88 Mustang GT that I had back in the early 90's.
The worst by far, would be a 1981 4x4 Datsun pickup that i had when I was in high school. 4 wheel drive problems, eating number 4 piston problems, just all kinds of problems.

Favorite: Current DD to be. My '84 'yota. Have always disliked foreign cars and when I look at the way some things on it are designed I really get to scratching my head but with the 22r and the 5-speed in it it is indestructible. Not only is it tough but I can get 15-16 MPG (driving conservatively that is) in town with 35" mud terrains and it does better in the mud than anything I've ever driven with it being so lightweight.

Least favorite:Tie between the '77 Nova I had and the '94 Z71 I just recently got rid of. Nova was fun to drive and somewhat cool even though it was a bit too far from the muscle-car era for my tastes but it had a 250 I6 and a swapped in 3-speed with some of the funkiest shifting and clutch linkage I've ever adjusted/driven with. The Z71 was loads of fun when everything was going alright but in the 3500 miles or so I put on it I've replaced more things than I would have ever had to replace with the bump. That and that truck has the not so famous G-80 locker/posi (a little of both actually) and I found out all too soon that you've gotta floor it to get it to engage, not very handy when you're off road.

I must say though no vehicle can beat the bump. I might have driven it a total of 30 minutes on the road in the years I've had it yet those 30 minutes have been the best 30 minutes behind the wheel of any of my vehicles ever.

When I had the Z 28, "late 70's", it was still pretty new, and it was the time of the Mustang II..
The Mustangs didn't have that great a rep back in those days. Some had 302's, but even those
weren't too well known as road burners. In 1979, the next version of Mustang came out, and
I think things started looking up for the Mustang in the 80's. I never was much of a fan of the
Mustang II.. Looked like a Pinto on steroids..

:thup:totally a pinto on steroids - the notchback ones were tragic ...and the rare ones with stock 302s were smogged out wheezers ....the only ones that looked even passable were the cobra II's in my opinion (i've always wanted one) or even better - the "King Cobra'!  lol!
a buddy of mine has a 76 cobra II that's pretty cool, its got a roller cam 5.0 in it - i keep trying to talk him into handing the car over to me,but so far no dice...

A friend of mine had one of those Mustang II's back then.. The Z 28 I had would
have ate it up and spit out the seeds.. :/ And even it was semi smog choked..
But still would get along pretty good.
What will get you is the prices back then.. A brand new Z 28 was about a 10,000
bill.. Which is about what I paid for a 05 Corolla with 24k miles in 2007.
It was 9200.00, but tax bumped it to about ten even..

That 78 Z-28, I bought with about 10-11k miles on it, basically still like new,
with new car smell, and was $6800.00+finance interest as I recall..
Those were the days.. :/
It was a purty car.. Real dark jade looking green.. The wimmerns liked it. :)
I don't even want to guess what a new 2011 Camaro goes for.. I'm sure it's a
fairly scary number.
