Helping a Chevy guy

Post by Mancar1 »

Coming home from work today I noticed a older Chevy Step-Side that seemed to be having trouble at the top of the Sac. River bridge at Tehama. I did a u-turn and went back to see what help he may need. He had made it off the bridge, but he had ran out of gas. I had just filled my gas cans for use at the Cemetery, so he was in luck. Turned out we knew each others parents, and had both been raised around here, but went to different high schools. Both of us in our early 60's. He tried to pay me, but I refused and just asked him to remember me if he ever saw my 68 along the road. Turns out he had been admiring the Ford every time he passed the cemetery and saw it parked there. Said he is a Ford man, but the Chevy was his late Dad's. I told him I understood that. We BS'd for 30 or so minutes, exchanged #s so if either of us needed help with whatever we could call. Me thinks me may have made a friend. We shall see, as I am kinda hard to get to know. You will be paid back some way or another and may not even realize it. It always comes back to you when you help someone in need.

a little bit of synchronicity goin' on there- what are the chances of running out of gas and having a guy pull up with a bunch of full jerrycans? kinda spooky, but in a good way...

Yep, it's always good to pity the poor Ford guy who's stuck driving a Ch*vy! It's just like your momma told you growing up...not everyone in the world has it as good as you. ;)

I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as "coincidence". These things happen for a (bigger) reason....which just may not be apparent right away. I also believe in "karma"! ("What goes around, comes around.") You did a very generous (selfless) thing there.

Proud of you. Not easy to stop and help people in these times. I try and help when I can myself. I believe in helping and believe in the pay or forward and the higher reasoning.
