I drive by boneyards on my way to work

Post by dolinick »

I have been thinking of stopping at the boneyards. There are at least three yards that I pass on my way to work. There are usually a few bumps there. I'll let yall know what I find if and when I stop. I should also have my camera to snap a couple of photos. :D

I kind of actually want to get a nice short bed and a nice long bed as well as tailgates. I have neglected my '67 stepside. I think it might be nice as a regular SWB truck. Maybe it will live on and not get "parted out".

The long bed would be for my F750 pick-up project. What do you think about shortening the wheelbase and keeping the cab it already has? It would save a lot of trouble swapping the cab with a crew cab. Is there any way to make it look right if there is a big gap between the cab and the bed. A tool box or sleeper berth or something? I could just put a bed on it but then there would be a gap in between the bed and cab. I was thinking also about a water tank because I am always hauling water for my trees in the country.

Maybe I'll just throw a bed on there and see what she looks like. Right now there is a cat walk behind the cab so I can still have the cat walk in between for now.

here is what she looks like now. The "cat-walk" thing could be modified so the bed will fit. And the fifth wheel will be removed of course. I was thinking of lifting the truck if necessary so the wheels will clear the wheel wells. I don't want it too high as to be dangerous. I am talking about spacer blocks under front and rear axles. Okay, so I am just brainstorming at this point...

Thanks for the photos. I wish there were more from different angles. I'd like to put f100 fenders on it too but don't know how that will work or look.

Anyway, I have been thinking of registering the truck. That would be a big step forward. Then maybe if I insure it I can drive it around a bit. I put the air compressor belt on so now i have brakes.

Another thing I want to do is get rid of the side saddle gas tanks and maybe put an in cab tank. I know the truck would only have about 100 mile range but that's ok. I probably can't afford to drive it that far anyway.

I think a bed would look cool. I also think a nice looking flat bed would be pretty neat. I think your idea for a water tank would be cool too and functional for you. You're on the right track for sure. The hardest part about a bed is fabbing up some fenders that look right to cover the duals imo.

If u put regular fenders on it the whole front wheel would stick out. Just put the bed on it maybe stretch the bed or move the wheel openings farther back and make dually fenders I wish mine was air brakes
