Re: 72 F100 project, longbed to short conv, CV swap, 20s
Are you using your stock brake pedal proportioning/metering valve with the hydroboost unit? I wanted to do this same swap but had to settle for an 02 CV front clip because none of the junkyards around my city had any newer CVs. It's alot more work but I can't complain (too much) because I feel I scored with the price for the components I bought. Front clip: disc to disc, diff: disc to disc including watts link and the booster/MC.

You will need a disc brake proportioning valve. Cant answer any other questions but that one I know.

I'm using the stock front and rear drum proportioning valve, seems to work pretty well with the 4 wheel disc.BlueBlood wrote:Are you using your stock brake pedal proportioning/metering valve with the hydroboost unit? Why don't you come rekey my locks for me. I would love to have one key for everything.

Really??? I was about to throw mine away. Do you think I can use my stock brake pedal with the booster/MC out of that CV?

Not sure, I used a hydroboost setup. Even then I had to shorten the pedal rod. The brake pedal is stock.BlueBlood wrote:Really??? I was about to throw mine away. Do you think I can use my stock brake pedal with the booster/MC out of that CV?

Ok thx. I'll try it out. I think I'm going to have do some work to the rod also. I'll post what I find when I get to that step. Thx again.

I've been scouring craigslist for a bench seat lately to replace the dilapidated mess of a seat I currently have. Found this one at the junkyard, first one I've seen that wasnt ripped and it matches. All for $30.

Re: 72 F100 project, longbed to short conv, CV swap, 20s
Its been incredibly hot this year and didnt do much on the truck. Couple of weeks ago I had some time and began peeling some of the bed paint off, then one thing led to another and before I knew it I was striping it down to bare metal. original color was yellow, then red and then rattle can black. I used a couple of 3m strip disc on the grinder
At this point I wanted to do the right thing and throw some epoxy primer on it but the bed seam needs a lot of work. Some areas need more than just seam sealer, thinking of welding it up. Saw someone stick a metal rod in there and weld it in, may do that. In the meantime I sprayed some 97 cent flat black on it.
Unfortunately now I had way too many colors on the truck and liked the flat black on the bed, dents and all. Went back to home depot and bought some more 97 cent cans, little bit of sand paper and over the next few days started spraying. I didnt strip any of the other panels but just gave it a quick scuff/sand job.
So certainly not the first and probably not the last, another rattle-can flat black truck! tiger stripes and all...
Looks good from a few feet a way but it really needs some body work, I've got some other pics showing areas that need work. I'll post those a little later today.

Re: 72 F100 project, longbed to short conv, CV swap, 20s
Nothing wrong with rattle can black and tiger stripes!!! This is my new favorite shot of my truck at a recent show. I put a fresh coat of Krylon satin black on it just a few days before the show (mine needs some body work as well). It too was about five different colors before it was black.
I want to do this to mine soooo bad right now but I've GOT to focus on my '56 first!!! Keep up the fantastic work man! Looking great!

F100Builder, your truck looks really good, I actually like Krylon the best out of all the rattle can brands out there. here are the "needs work" areas...
This door needs to be reskined or replaced
Big rusty gap on top of the cab, not sure if seam sealer will be good enough, I'd hate to weld this one up too
small rust holes
I'd like to find a better hood
