Thanks Jason. I do have some of the Zillamat and foil backed insulation and once I get the truck painted, including underneath the hood, I do plan on installing those items. Thanks and good luck!jasondart wrote:Great thread! From the research I have done, it may be worth your while to insulate the inside of the hood with any left over stuff you have. Makes sense, engine noise coming up through the hood and in through the windshield. Just something to think about. I have bookmarked this thread as one of the many projects.

Question: About how many square feet did you use for your applications?

I think I used about 50-60 sq ft but that includes the entire headliner area, inside both doors, and up the cab wall behind the in-cab gas tank.

Terry, nice truck! I'm going to take you advice on the zilla mat. I also like what you did with the insulation and the rubber. The dash bezel and trim came out looking great! Where did you get the wood grain decals??

The name of the decal company is Metro Restyling.com. They offer a few different wood grains. You can also google "woodgrain decal" or along those lines and several companies come up and they offered different woodgrains. I do remember that it was pretty inexpensive. I went with the burled walnut since that was the closest to the original. The only part that I didn't like was that the decal is very shiney and if I did it over again, I would have looked for a decal that had more of a satin or matte finish to it then the high glossy finish....just personal preference.67nukeford wrote:Terry, nice truck! If you do go with the zillamat and other insulation stuff, make sure to post your progress! We love looking at other projects! good luck.

Could you try a semi gloss clear spray over the decal, to tone down the shine?

I hadn't thought of that....good idea. Probably a satin clear spray would maybe do the trick.67nukeford wrote:Could you try a semi gloss clear spray over the decal, to tone down the shine?
