70-95 body swap is on the road!

Post by 70 ranger »

Well it`s been about three years and a lot of work but I insured it and have been cruising all weekend in the old bump! I won`t say that its done but it is driveable. I haven`t installed the air conditioning yet and I still have to finish off some wiring. Oh ya and it needs a wheel alignment... and the tim put on. But who cares I am cruisin! My picture files were to big to download so I will figure that out later.
I put some pictures on my photobucket link below.

How far off were the body mounts? How much room on the sides of the engine?

I put in new floor boards and cab mounts then drilled the holes where they needed to be, about 2" back and 3/4" wider. the rear cab mounts I drilled out new ones in the cab to fit the new frame. I used a 300 six motor so I had no width problems. I put the cab about 3/8" from touching the head then installed the rad support to check to see if I had eneuph room. I know this doesen't sound to scientific but it all worked great.

Ford did set the engine back a couple of inches starting in 80. We discovered this on my cousins truck when he did a 67 body swap on to a 95 2wd chassis.
Nice work; now I'm even more motivated to strip the 89 4x4 I've got and throw my extra 69 cab on...
