stolen
some flunking thief stole my a/c unit i was goign to either sell or put in on of my rental homes. i think i know who it was. but i cant prove anything. i saw the guy driving around again today. that is who i think stole it. and it had to be two guys too. because that thing was heavy as hell. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/app/2576333169.html anyway i got the police on it. they may or may not turn something up. thats all i could do today. i plan on checking some of the scrap yard that are close by. but there are so many up in the city. that i will probably never find it. or get it back in good condition.

Re: stolen
Sorry to hear the bad news man, hope you get ur ac unit back or at least get the dirt bag off the street!
Man what is it with people stealing stuff. Some dirt bag brought a pair of bolt cutters into the gym and cut my lock and stole my wallet and ipod on Thursday night.

Hope you get your a c back.
I don't know what is going to happen about all this stealing going on.
Around here they are stealing man hole covers, cutting catalytic converters off cars, air conditinoners out of churches, electric wires from power poles, gas from boats that are docked in the water.
Seems the thieves steal anything rather than work.
Broke in my widowed 65 year old sister in laws house while she was working to make a living, stole about any thing they could carry. She had gathered 2 very large trash bags of drink cans from her work which had taken her several months & they even stole those too since they were already picked up and bagged.
There are so many honest people suffering that are doing without much needed things. Some are even doing without their medicine.
Something needs to be done to change the attitudes of these crooks.

Re: stolen
I work at a HVAC company and have these crack heads break into our lot and steal the coils out of old AC units a couple times a year. The owner installed security cameras and lights but that didn't help either. The last time the stole the gas out of 5 of the rigs as well. I told him it is time to buy a couple of junk yard dogs to tear these punks a new one next time they break in. My co workers house was broken into and ransacked while he was sitting in his back yard, cops still have not caught the punks who did that and now they are armed with his Baretta that they took out of his night stand. we definitely need to do something or it will only get worse.

Re: stolen
I had someone steal a window unit from my driveway. Funny thing is it was sitting behind my trash bin hidden from view. I think theres scrappers driving around my area looking for stuff. Its probably the same jerkwad that stole my bedsides. If I go home one day and they cut the chain tying my good truck bed to my workshop all he** will break loose. Im with 'ya Craig on this one.

Re: stolen
Sorry to hear about your a/c unit. I hope the cops nab them. Around here they steal from one scrap yard and sell it to the one down the road. Unoccupied buildings and churches seem to be fair game for these slimeballs. One small local church was forced to close it's doors after the scum stole almost all of the metal out of their building. The congregation follows a variation of one of the larger faiths but has very few members in this area. They simply couldn't over come the loss.

Re: stolen
i shoul dhave went to the scrap yards today and posted a stolen ad. so mayeb they would have found the people. but i was unsure which yard they would have even taken it to. its a loss for sure. i probably will never see it again. i am just not going to be able to make the money back that i spent out for gas driving back and forth i guess. but there is one possible lead. but maybe not. who knows.

Re: stolen
I work for an electric utility and we have had thieves breaking into our substations and stealing the copper grounding wires off the substation structures. We have also had thieves try to steal transformers off poles! There are some real slimeballs acting as scrappers. I have been cleaning up around my Mom's place and taking at least one or two loads of scrap a month to the recyclers. I have met some very shady people in there. The yard owners really don't seem to care either. Here a seller has to fill out a form for all nonferrous metal stating where it was obtained and who the owner is. This is a state law that is aimed at curbing theft but I doubt it really accomplishes much. As long as you have a driver's license the yard owners really don't care where the stuff comes from.
