It has been one of those weeks... And it is only Tuesday!

Post by ford4x4fun »

So Monday the bus doesn't show up to pick up my son for school. So I have to drive back from work to home. About an hour with traffic in Tampa at 0800. Than I get the call about someone using my credit card. This morning I got a call that my son was still sitting at the bus stop again. No bus two days in a row.

So I call the school, they can't do anything for me I have to call the Hillsborough School Transportation Section. I call hit the right buttons no answer and no place to leave a message. Today they closed the bridge I need to take home so instead of an hour it takes me just under 2 hours to get back to pick him up. This whole time I was hitting the redial button. No answer.

Get my son and a couple other neighborhood kids who's parents cant leave work and bring them to the school. I get to talk to the assistant principal, he tells me who to call, and gives me the same number I have been trying to call. What the heck I will try it again. No answer. So I use my military issue smart phone (your tax dollars at work) and locate the number for the Superintendent. Call it, get passed around like 6 times, finally get a lady that is going to transfer my concern to the correct manager, I told her politely that I wanted it passed to the superintendent, again she tells me she will give it to the correct person.

Ok, I email the Superintendent directly. Shortly after that I get a call from the director of transportation. Not once did he make an excuse but fessed up to the fact that they where jacked up. After our phone call he sent me an email with his plans to remedy the problem. Hopefully he fixes the problem! Needless to say I am sure that some head rolled today, even though my email was polite, I didn't hold back on any of my thoughts of the situation that my child has been left stranded, and the fact that I couldn't talk to a human about the problem.

Hopefully the rest of the week is quite.

Sounds like a typical public school system.
"Pay your taxes and shut up!" Sounds like child neglect and endangerment on their part. Not to give any suggestions here...

Sounds more like "Complain to the person in charge, get quick results." i.e. a working system.

I have found over the years of raising kids that my first call is always to the superintendant. I tend to get results in an hour instead of never. No one wants to get yelled at, and if you start at the top they really don't like it. :D

Well, to add to this story... Or shale we call it the never ending saga of the bus stop. My youngest is 10, and is one of those kids with real tender feelings. It is easy to make him feel bad. Well today him and a little girl where running to the bus stop. He was in front of her, and his book bag fell off of his shoulders. Well the little girl clipped it with one of her feet and ate the sidewalk face first. She must have hit hard because she went into a seizure, and had to be rushed to the hospital. Poor William blames himself, even though everyone has told him it was an accident and they happen. Good news though the little girl is doing good, and is back home.

Also, when dealing with certain situautions like out of control/rampaging principals giving hyperactive kids a tough time and witholding meds, or refusing to deal with the bullies especialy the ones from other schools, during the hours she is still held responsable for their safety. having a police report sometimes helps to.

not saying this is a report kinda problem but sometimes you run into it.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
