Lost my mother to pancreatic cancer two months. Its a terrible diagnosis, he survived much longer than most. Prayers to his family and the many that will be touched by his death.

I think it's possable that without him and wozniac and later gates, the pc would still be second fiddle to the atari 2600.

May he rest in peice. but man talk about thinking you had another 10-20 years after the magical surgery to cure the pancreatic cancer. just shows no one knows how long they'll live.

RIP Steve. Checked the photo slideshows of Jobs and Apple products at Yahoo news last night after I heard the news...that really takes me back. And saw folks doing the memorial thing on TV this morning, so he is gone from the planet. I don't idolize Apple, but you couldn't give me a PC running Windoze...been using Apple puters for at least 25 years now, at home and at work...and yes, I agree that much of their success is due to marketing...that stuff works because the entire marketing/media/advertising machine trains us to be consumptive consumers from the crib to the grave...unfortunately. It's sad testimony to the state of our nation/culture that you have to "buzz" your product to be successful, but it's true. Toys!, toys!, toys!...remember the little kid in Close Encounters of the Third Kind that got taken by the spaceships?....it's all about the toys!...just toss it and buy another when it breaks or a newer toy comes out. My protest to that is buying/restoring and running "antique" stuff that was made when we really were a global superpower...like my 69 F250. Everybody flies by me on the road, but I don't care.

Brings up another questions for me... The medical community keeps saying that cancer is beatable they just need more money for research. Well this guy had next to unlimited funds and they couldnt cure him? Kinda interesting if you ask me....

Hate to see anyone die, but it is part of life. I've buried a lot of people, and it is sad. Didn't know Steve, and I miss my wife a hell of a lot more than I will miss him. Someone else will replace him. No one is irreplaceable

My only question:

Is this a good time to buy Apple stock, or not?
