Re: My 38k mile '68 Fairlane 500
Thanks, it's my enigma because every time I drive it I want to do something with it /to it to make it faster, cooler, etc. but I can't even bring myself to do anything to it because it is so original and unmolested. It's ironic that the manual drum brakes stop it better then the Granada disc setup I have on the Ranchero.
I had four at one time, the fastback, the ranchero, a white '68 coupe 289/C4 car and a '69 Torino GT vert 351w 4bbl, 4 speed with 3.25 gears. It was my favorite but had too many refrigerators holding it together. The white one was my first, bought it in Florida, drove it to Chicago and later to SanDiego while in the Navy. Ended up shipping it to the crusher once the floors got bad. The vert body was sold for a couple hundred. I have tons of parts and always look out for good ones but they are all gone around here.
I'd love to part out my '93 stang and drop the driveline into the fastback but I doubt I ever will.

Yeah with a car that is so original and untouched it would be hard to radiacally change it. Even with drum brakes as long as there maintained that way they should be stop pretty darn decent.

Re: My 38k mile '68 Fairlane 500
Further to drum brakes advantages, they're lighter than disc brakes plus you can drill the drums (similar to cross drilling disc brake rotors) which allows brake dust to escape, water will not accumulate and cools the brakes to boot. Saw this done many years ago on a drag race Chevy II in a magazine article.

Thanks for the compliments. I just hooked up cable internet, goodbye DSL so more videos should get posted. I need to do some shop videos and maybe even some of the trucks.
